I agree that it could have used a bit more tuning. It's even more egregious on hard mode. There are even still moments where they instantly turn around without an animation, so it's not like it even fixed that issue in the first place, really. Melee in HLM2 is more just learning what enemies you can and can't hit.
[EDIT] But I guess they compensated for it a little bit by increasing the time your swings take? It makes it easier to time your attacks.
it still seems randomized like HM1, but overall much faster and with less room for variation
I think it would be less frustrating if the camera wasn't so horrible, it should have been like Intravenous or OTXO instead (moving the mouse to the edge of the screen automatically moves the camera along with it)
