Why so many people hate the ending?
Please don't spoil anything.

Too sudden, too big, comes across as a ♥♥♥♥ you that shows you how little your actions mean to the plot, etc, etc. Everyone has a reason for disliking it.

Since you haven't finished the game you won't really get it untill you see it but one of the main reasons people don't lke it is that the story expands itself only to end suddenly almost as if everything you did was for no reason (like in the first game untill the devs expanded upon it in the 2nd game)

Edit: Added more

Haven't finished the game yet,but i'm already sad,knowing that there won't be a Hotline Miami 3.
I've played the first one for god only knows how much time in PS3,probably one of the best games i've ever played. On the other hand,Midnight Animal is still being developed,so there's still hope.

Yea seems kinda sad that we probs wont get another game but we have the level editor which adds for limitless content as long as people are still interested.
Also to expand on my sentence of the game ending hate think as it of more as a screw you to people who played the game for the story rather then gameplay

Just another question.
Is it possible to edit masks with the editor?

You can't edit masks as in create new ones but you are able to edit sprites but not from within the editor but you will need to ask around since im not knowledgeable on the subject

I like the ending actually you wont be dissapointed if you got what the game is trying to tell you all along, you just have to dig very deep

Trust me, the ending is very fitting.

There is no actual direct message the game gives out, it's all up to you to create theories based upon the actions of both games

A sequel to this game is being made, check out "Midnight Animal" on steam.
It's a fanmade modification to Hotline Miami, not sure if it's to one or two, but it's a mod for one of the games, and it takes place after the events of HM2.

It's so well known it's fitting to make it canon.

Do you know if its a mod of the first or second game? I dont have HM1 on steam(i have it on GOG) so... I might have to buy that in order to play midnight animal.
