[SPOILERS] Did Son die?
I just finished the game and the ending was really confusing to me. It feels like they were trying to establish something about Son through the hallucinations that I don't quite understand. It feels like Son really hated the Fans, but Son doesn't interact with the fans at all? Or does he and I just missed it? And at the end when he's on top of the building, the gate at the edge that he goes through feels like an allegory for him really wanting to kill himself. With it being gold, a lot like the golden arches of heaven. And that it's at the end of a tall building...

Were they trying to say something else here? It just seems so sudden, before this, he doesn't really seem like a suicidal person.

Yes, his body can be seen covered in Death Wish outro.

Yeah, as for Biker and Jacket however, I think they survived.

I know for a fact that jacket was away from the nuke, because the crux of his pain in the first game was dealing with the fact that Beard was nuked.
EDIT: Maybe there was another nuke, because the game also shows you him being nuked

Jacket was last seen in a prison cell that got nuked. If you reeeeally want you could headcanon that Jacket survived due to being in an underground cell or something, and if they ever change their mind about Hotline Miami 3 existing that might become necessary to keep continuity.

I highly doubt that prisons have a nuclear protection measure. Something has to be air tight to survive a nuclear explosion. If Jacket survived he probably looks like a ghoul from fallout.

As far as the canon is concerned, everyone in Miami and Hawaii is dead due to the nukes. We actually see the nukes wipe out every major character on screen and it should be noted that Jacket was detained in the same prison as Richter, which was clearly shown to be a regular prison, no lead lined walls and it was on ground level so its virtually impossible for Jacket or anybody else in the prison to survive a nuclear blast, even if he somehow survived the explosion the radiation would finish him off.

the Son killed the Fans(except Tony) and died from falling. It's shown in the earlier stage Death Wish, that the Fans got a call from the Son and assaulted the building, killed the gangsters. the Swans found everyone silent, then the son appeared, shot Ash, and Alex too. After that the Son walked onto a rainbow bridge(there's no rainbow bridge so he actually falled off the building). Later Pardo came, after the police, found Corey and Mark dead. Tony was alive but given up. Pardo still killed him and claimed that was self defense. When Pardo left the building, there's a covered corpse, which's probably the Son.
