It is truly dissapointing to see such a bland and stupid ending like that.
"OH WE GOTTA MAKE AN ENDING! WHAT DO!? XD"
"LMAO JUST NUKE IT BRO XDDDDDD"
this wasn't only just the dumbest way to end the game
but it also means there's no possibilities of a third game... (Half Life 3 Confirmed?)
"I sincerly hope the ending will be good after i play HM 1" you didn't play the first one?
.
Jk
That is false.
They left a lot more loose ends than before.
For example, what happened to the janitors? 50 Blessings?
There was a bunker shown on The Abyss, was it used by 50 Blessings to hide from the nukes?
Who are the people with masks shown in The Abyss?
And so on, and so on.
But yeah, i wasn't trying to say that there weren't loose ends, because there are, but i'm just saying that in the mindset of the developers, they just decided to nuke everything to give a sort of conclusion to the main characters of the story and eradicate the possibility of a third game anytime soon.
*cough cough* midnight animal *cough cough*
I wish there was a 3rd game.
If there was, i think we would have new characters.
Or maybe some of the main storyline actually survived?
Honestly? After playing the game abit, I ended up not having as much of a problem with the ending. Are there loose ends that don't get wrapped up? Probably. Could there have been a better outcome? Maybe.
For me, I found the story to be mostly a statement on basically how there's a theme of different types of people not willing to accept that their actions are pointless. That for what it's worth, Hotline Miami as a game is not meant to be taken for any amazing story or anything that should matter, that it's really more of just you enjoying hurting people and raging through the levels (Which admittibly I'll agree some of them are pure piss difficulty, specifically hating the most the levels of Richter and The Son and totally glad I managed to get an A+ on them because I'm not going further than that).
It's already being stated from the start, kind of, that this whole game is just going to have a downer, that almost no one is held to any sympathy and that eventually this story just has to end. Having the world destroyed by nukes is one quite of an overkill metaphor to end the game's series, but still, it's as if the devs admit that they just want to move on from this series and write something new.
Personally, I think the characters in game really represent the types of people who play this game, wether they are in just for the action without cause, hoping for a more gory experience for the heck of it, or just want answers to a story that really the devs didn't put much thought on that wasn't exactly that big of a focus. To me, almost every character kind of is a focus on the things people do not knowing to consider their actions are looking into this game in the wrong eyes, judging it for every bit by bit like every kill and execution was something artistic.
But heck, I could also be wrong and maybe the devs just really don't care that much. It's possible. Regardless of that I still found the game always being replayable.
Because although I'm berated for my actions, I sure do enjoy hurting enemies people
I did not expect a nuke, not in 1000 hours of thinking of a possible ending.(before the TV broadcast)
I mean yeah, the menu gives you somewhat of a hint...
Beard didn't deserve what happened to him though.
