Plutonius Nerva Question - Spoiler ahead

I got a message after a mission that Plutonius Nerva has left Nova Roma. Morality is on the human side, but his loyalty was not even red, it was neutral. Is this part of the story?

Yep, depending on whether you went Life or Demonic alignment, either Nerva or Vergila will leave just before the end of the campaign. Nothing to do with loyalty.

What if I keep morality neutral? Or thereabouts.

I wonder if anyone's tried that. It would be a nice reward for foregoing the alignment benefits, to get to keep both characters for end game. But it would be easy for the devs to make you choose one or the other right before the final, and I doubt they'd have put time into developing a third ending that almost no one would see.
