In KT you at least got the new skill tree for endgame which motivated me for some time but in L9 the only reason to keep playing is to get more relics (which I really don't have that many since there are only few missions in the game - I even save scummed a bit when refreshing the merchant/tower for relics and didn't see any crucial relics I really wanted) and I'm still missing some nice building upgrades but for what do I need it? I already "played through" the game...
The only real reason to continue for me would be if there were a new character available in end game you can unlock since you have one empty slot anyway...
and no you dont get a new character for the last slot
u can either fight Sulla or Mordred and his gang.
depends on the moral
That said, you don't have the same story / progression hooks to keep you going, if you tend to need those and don't enjoy the battles just for themselves.
For most people I'd probably say that if they found the latter part of the campaign was getting pretty easy, if they want to keep playing they might be better off starting a fresh campaign on a higher difficulty before playing end game. When the fights are too easy and routine it can start to get boring.
On the other hand if you were still finding the campaign enjoyably challenging by the end, you'll probably be fine with end game. It's not a big jump in difficulty.
