Co-op?
I remember Descent 3 having Co-op mode, but on the store page, it only says Single Player and Multi Player. Does the Steam version have Co-op?

Highly unlikely, steam does not exactly do much improvement work on these games. Since the original servers are long dead, as far as i know, don't hold your breath expecting steam to make them work with the steam servers.

I wouldn't mind not having official steam servers, just a LAN mode to play over Hamachi would be great, to complete the story with my brother.

I'm pretty sure the co-op can be played over LAN as it is actually. (I have the GOG version and know I was able to)

There are still servers online for this game, but AFAIK not on the steam tracker. You'll need to use Vortex, which you can find here:

Last I checked there were a bunch of co-op servers as well as the regular multiplayer. And a small community that actually still plays.

If this is the original or GOG release of the game (I've heard it is), then Vortex should work just fine.
Steam servers aren't the only servers in existence when it comes to gaming, after all. I like how none of you actually asked anything like this :D.

Its not Valve's job to do that anyway.

kali had quite an active descent community. www.kali.net I just looked and it has FREE registration for a limited time! I might blow the dust off my old win98 bawx so I can play with my VFX1 & spaceorb 360 :) Oculus schmokulous!! LOL

Co-op works in the Steam version as well :). You just need to find some server... using Vortex you'll find a few co-op dedi's as well, and a hand full players in Hyper-Anarchy or Anarchy games. I just played a co-op mission (unfortunately alone). See http://wiki.batcom-it.net/index.php?title=Descent_3 for more info...

Descent 3 when released via Interplay for Outrage Entertainment had online Cooperative Mode for the Single Player Missions.

It was more fun to play through the Single Player Missions with your Online Friends.

:)

Does anyone have problems with load-out? Every time I complete a mission on a co-op game and proceed to the next mission it resets my load-out to default weapons. I would love to play this game in co-op but it sucks that I have my load-out reset after every mission.

The way the game's mechanics work, there is no way to bring data from one mission to the next in multiplayer mode, so it resets you to nothing each level.
