Maybe you didn't read my post above yours?
Simple answer: SCHOOL HAS STARTED.
this.
do you also stop watching a comedy show if the comic laughs at his joke for a bit. *in my John Oliver voice* Step off
now back on topic. Those 20 or so I questioned that where new to game, while small in number, care vastly different in play style and gaming habits. Thats how I know the data collected is good data (in science this is how an experiment works. A control group aka US and a group of changing factors to compare too aka THE 20 VASTLY DIFFERENT GAMERS)
Look movie critics makes up a SMALL number of people. and a fraction , a VERY VERY SMALL fraction of the entire auidence that would see any given movie. Normally they are help as opinions and taken with a grain, but on the super rare instance that all the stars align and all those critics agree 100% on a movie. Well they are usally right and we all usually agree with them. (Unless someone here actually liked Fan4stick lol)
The 20 or so I asked about the game are people I talk to everyday and they almost never agree on games. I mean like EVER, but this time they did, and I am agreeing with them.
Less does not equal more.
and I am oh so glad you not only brought up Overwatch, but made the mistake many do of confusing presentation with game modes.
Overwatch has many game modes. Control point, King of the hill, Pay load, Skirmish, Deathmatch, prettymuch everything from TF2 is there
You only see the game as having 2 modes though because of the way those mode are presented to you. You have only 2 options in how you choose and play them! The game them randomly picks both a map and a game mode for your play session. Pretty sneaky yeah
Evolve could do a similar thing, with the classic 45min long matches of "legacy" hunt being its own thing, evactuation being its own thing, and everything else (the not so time consuming modes) being the Overwatch style randomized everything list that is their matchmaking. So you could get a new Hunt mode game one que and an arena mode the next. while Not my fave way to handle it, it would keep all the content in the game and not split the community with the different modes. Hey it worked for overwatch
The point here is taking content out and giving players less options is not the answer. Sure you can defend that the old game "didn't work" so a change was needed. To which I would argue the exact same about this version
but one thing they have in common, that hurts both and needs to change to save the game. . . . LACK OF CONTENT!
Stage 1 lacked too much at launch to retain players, and Stage 2 is following suite. So where this idea that taking away gamers options in a game is a good idea is beyond me. Games with little content are almost always doomed to fail. So removing content from a game you wish to revive is like walking backwards up a stair case while blindfolded and covered in baby oil. Sure its possible, but its really really risky and prob not a good idea to try
Ok I've explained my opinion and thought as best I can on this point. Y'all have fun here. Call me when they add more contrent so I can play for longer than 30 mins at time. I'm out
Its basicly the opposite of a moba: In mobas you are forced to fight your opponents all the time and because of that its fast paced and challenging. In this game on the other hand you gotta try to avoid each other most of the time which is not that thrilling in the long run. At least for the majority of the ppl I guess.
There is simply too little reward in this game. if you catch a level 1 monster and kill it its not rewarding because its weak. If you beat a level 3 monster its more rewarding but since its a 4v1 it doesnt really feel as rewarding as well. And playing monster? its running away most of the time which doesnt feel satisfiing as well. Sure there are those moments where you kill an opponent team at stage 2 because they made mistakes and thats a good feeling but those moments are kinda rare. And as a monster even stage 3 doesnt feel all that strong. its harder to kill a team as a level 3 monster than it is to kill a level 1 monster as a hunter which kinda sucks as well.
It was even worse on Stage 2 but IMHO the arena was a step in the right direction, even thou it was unbalanced as f*ck and poorly executed.
To make this game intresting they'd need to add more depth while keeping it fast paced.
It would for instance be more fun if they removed the evolution at all and added strategic possibilities for hunters and monsters. More options to seperate a team and counterplay against the dome. More possibilites for the monster to be a threat from start to finish.
AS it is now as a monster you are then prey most of the game and once ur stron you pose a serious threat to the opponents and the game starts get really get fun for both, the hunters and the monster because you are hunter and prey at the same time and it really comes down to skill.
Ofc this wont happen but as it is the game is bound to be played by only few people. It sure aint that bad, I enjoy playing the game from time to time, but it's not enough to keep me involved or even intrested to play this game competitively. Also: Watchiing the game is even more boring than playing it. There is little action and its still a walking sim most of the time. Because of this the game will never be a mainstream competitive title such as the most mobas.
The Chinese already farm gold and level chars, so why not move to farming keys or making maxed accounts. Imagine a site selling steam accounts with just a fully unlocked Evolve account. 10-30 dollars for a hassle free Evolve account. lol
Anyway, no one is listening to what we're saying.
This. This so much.
Just making a comment about general debating.
Also I'm really frustrated that no one else is talking about the numbers, just "hurr durr a month ago there were 20k(or whatever) people playing, now it's 4k, RIP Evolve Stage 2 lol"
