The learning curve on this title compared to others in the same bracket is considered by many to be high. Meaning that you will likely lose more at the start compared to some other titles.
Also, and not saying this is entirely the case, although I would not be shocked to find that there are those which are not aware, or did not take care of their due dilligence regarding the fact that TRS will not be issueing a wipe before full release, which could cause individuals to not want to invest time. Remember while this is Evolve, its now Evolve Stage 2 and is not currently listed as a full release title.
It is hovering around 5000 at peak, at least it was last night. I would like to think after they go out of Beta and do a full release, release the updated maps from the legacy version (We really need those!) more players will jump in. Unfortunately they are kind of slow with that, and seems like most of their resources is directed toward their main project.
But over all, hovering between 2000-5000 is by no means a low number.
- Needs more Maps (Not Variations)
- Needs more Characters
- Needs more Monsters
- Needs more Bug Fixes
These threads every 20 minutes get pretty old. STOP OBSESSING ABOUT PLAYER COUNTS SON, IT"S BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH.
The map variants are crap. 100% geared toward the Hunters' success. Though I do like the idea of deepest dark as a co-op vs ai storymode setting. That's kinda neat. In fact I would like to see a co-op vs ai actual STORY MODE which explains things and gives us the reasons the monsters exist! I mean they've hinted at it through character dialogue, but it's all vague and makes barely any sense! And I mean... storymode could have actual objectives... like "rescue Jack to recruit him". Give us the starting party of Val, Maggie, Hank and Markov and have Cabot explain wtf is going on and why he needs them to get their boots on the ground!
Make us WANT to play Co-Op vs AI, instead of tacking on a counter that says "play 100k matches on this map to unlock rewards for next week". I mean, come on TRS. You're being lazy. You had ambitions and goals. These map variants suck, and everyone despises them.
More character variants are nice, but you keep adding assaults and medics... Did you forget about the trappers and the supports? FYI, after hearing that convo between Sunny and Lennox, a lot of people want to see Sunny get a mech suit variant. Keep her support, just change things up a bit! Renegade Abe was a cool idea as an assault, and if Paladin Parnell is really a medic, that's cool too. I'm aching to see everyone get a variant, including the monsters remaining (Gorgon, Wraith and Behemoth).
If you're going to make a Gorgon Variant, I want to see a TRUE Gorgon queen. Give her a different look from this "Deepest Dark" variation. Make her actually lay eggs that hatch if they aren't destroyed to reveal baby Gorgons. Make her shoot acid globs that actually cling to hunters to do damage over time, allow them to stack up to 3 globs per target for maximum effect, refreshing the DoT timer and increasing the damage with the addition of each glob. Make her web snare actually SNARE for a couple of seconds... binding hunters to the ground, walls, whatever as her CC instead of that stupid spider trap. And for the love of GOD get rid of Mimic! It's horrible, instantly countered, and pure garbage in actual matches. If Mimic were to be made useful somehow, it would be like Decoy in that it moves and attacks autonomously, but if its killed, it should explode into a "web field" and anyone touching it should be slowed considerably (even on the standard Gorgon this is a good idea, because the current Mimic is @#$%ing useless).
I could go on, but I've already made my point I think.
Autism....really?
The reason I checked it tonight is because matchmaking seemed to be struggling to find games for me and constantly putting me in the same lobbies with the same people over and over again. There's also nothing at all wrong with being aware of the health of the playerbase of a game you enjoy.
You should learn to be a bit more tactful in your comments.
As for characters, there are a lot of characters already in the game, I think they are enough for a good while too. And monsters, I am sure they are very hard to do right so again, bringing alternates for each monster should be enough for a out of Beta launch. But we really, REALLY need the rest of the maps updated ASAP.
Honestly, Gorgon is pretty good as it is, what you are explaining just makes him OP as ♥♥♥♥.
Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to play with people.
you are comparing peak and non-peak hours. Of course there isn't many playing at this time of the day considering its 12-3am for NA region that forms the bulk of the playerbase
Re-read please.
"There are only 2500 people playing this as I speak. A week ago around this time there were 6000-7000 people playing."
I am comparing today's hours with the same hours of last week. I'm not comparing peak with non-peak hours.
You should learn to ♥♥♥♥ off. Your post reeks of player-count obsession and panicking about a game because it only has 2k players!
Try loving a game that's been considered "dead" with less than 250 players for almost a year. I enjoy games with less players than that and they're still around. These threads get old, autist. You kids these days are always panicking if a game doesn't have 30k players, but fun fact: player count doesn't always indicate the quality of a game. I think DOTA 2 and CS:GO are boring, mediocre games, but they've got 923487239478 players every day all day.
People have crap taste, and assymetrical sci-fi shooters will always be niche games.
I'm gonna call you out on that.
Based on Steamcharts numbers (GMT+8)
Player Count @ Aug 25, 14:00 - 2,618
Player Count @ Aug 18, 14:00 - 3,777
You still want to insist its 6-7k the same hours of last week?
Nope, I don't. I was going off memory. It seems worse than expected, then. The playerbase has bled a lot more than I thought over the past couple of weeks. Thanks for getting the actual numbers.
And slow matchmaking is not because of low player count imo. Thats probably because of the latest patch
