Nothing to do with TRS and I wish this sheep minded hate boner people have for them would stop. 2K are solely to blame for Evolve's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ lifecycle. TRS's head literally said he was pissed off when they shut the game down because they wanted to continue working on it.
2K had TRS on lockdown for a 3 month cycle, during this time they weren't allowed to update, patch or add new content to the game, this was 2K's doing. The only thing TRS have done wrong in the modern gaming era was make the closest thing to L4D3 that we'll get now that Valve don't make games anymore. Valve elitists enforced the whole TRS bad rhetoric as a result.
2K ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Evolve, the same publisher that blindly messes with perks ingame to stir interest, generated some hype and then didn't relist the game because a LITERAL privitized playerbase didn't meet their ridiculous margins.
Wouldn't say fanboy mate, just someone who knows what they're talking about and is aware of the bigger picture.
A game I enjoy as a L4D fan? Sure, maybe I will. Better than clinging to the false hope of Valve giving us a L4D3, which is what I assume everyone is crying about, because somebody else actually got off their ass and made a new zombie shooter.
Yet Everyone who played Legacy from the start and was active on the forums, equally knows how TRS implemented the worst changes, listened to their community like an - and I'm sorry if I'm insulting someone - autistic child. They made the weirdest choices in between patches and generally overtuned changes the entire playerbase was then stuck with for 3 months.
I mean, the game was awesome. I played in the pro league for a couple of months, it was awesome. The sad thing was... Evolve Stage 2 was a product of Turtle Rock themselves. Legacy didn't only die because of the expensive DLC back in the day. A lot of people really didn't like the matchmaking mechanics playing solo. Microphones were basically required if you played random solo matches and you wanted to win as a hunter team against the average skilled monster. Upgrading mechanics required a grind. DLC characters were at the cost of a quarter to a third of the full game-price.
Evolve died not because it was a bad game. It died because of all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ choices around it. Of which 2K is largely responsible, but everything else was designed by Turtle Rock themselves.
And you say that you know what you are talking about
TRS chose to partner up with 2k just like they did choose WB for B4B. It's funny how history repeats itself and for some reason TRS shouldn't be held responsible for any of their decisions. The moment they decided to leave Valve was the moment things turned to ♥♥♥♥. Not sure if you remember but they basically left Valve because they wanted to be free, we now know how it turned out.
3 months cycle? Did you pay attention to the cycle on B4B? They can't even deliver it with a bigger team, what makes you believe that they would have updated the game back then? Not even talking about how they always failed to balance their games except when Valve was around.
Also, Valve still does make games, just because you don't like their games doesn't mean that they don't. It's funny to see how people keep complaining about Valve not making games while you see Rockstar taking longer time development for all their games. If this isn't double standards I don't know what that is.
Lastly, there is a next gen L4D-like that is going to release really soon, and this is Warhammer 40,000: Darktide by Fatshark. They already released 2 successful L4D-like, this is the closest thing we will get to L4D 3 and so far previews are confirming that it will live up to expectations, not like it can do worse than B4B anyway.
