Bought the physical copy from Amazon

I think I may have goofed and could use some help here. I bought a physical copy of Evolve from Amazon in hopes that it had a CD key or redeem code to enter on here. I don't trust key code sites, so I don't use those. Anyway, I installed the game (or attempted to) on a laptop that still has a disc drive. Problem is it didn't do anything past the initial install launch window and just went straight to Evolve Stage 2 which I know is dead. I clicked in the Beta and selected Legacy Evolve, but nothing happens. The game doesn't proceed to install past that point. On the Steam page, it says the installation is around 20GB but only a few kb installed. The game folder it created on my hard drive just simply says EmptySteamDepot. Need help proceeding from here. Thanks.

Ok, I feel stupid now. I entered the season pass code in the case and it seems to be installing the full game (40GB). Hopefully that's all it was.

Yes. I played this game years ago on console and wanted to try it again on PC. I know the game is dead, I just wanted to play some bot matches since there are limited games where you can actually play as a monster. It was only a few dollars so it's fine by me. I didn't know they gave all the dlc monsters/characters and skins away so that was a neat surprise.

As long as you had the original copy before it transitioned to Stage 2. Make sure you right click on the game then go to Properties > Betas > LegacyEvolve. If not, you can buy a physical copy/CD key/ or just download the game files for free from anyone who has them. You can still play peer to peer multiplayer, supposedly. I haven't tested that out yet. Just the matchmaking/emblem editor/store is down.

I see, well I don't have the original game. I'll buy it and then do the method you mentioned. I just want to try it out, see what potential this game had. Thank you for the tip tho.

Confirm the method mentioned worked, I can play with bots now. Cool, have it for the collection.
