It is a server only. It connects players. Players have clients and connect through a dedicated server. The free-to-play version of evolve requires servers to connect. The paid version of evolve uses peer-to-peer or computers connecting to computers without a dedicated server. That's why they will continue to be able to play when the servers go down.

so the only way to play will be through personal ip connection?

A dedicated server is hosted on a master server/computer, for instance 2K has a super computer that runs servers for us to join, well they're removing/disconnecting the (evolve servers) & going offline, back in the day companys gave you the utilitys to host your own dedicated servers for your hosting pleasure now they don't do that anymore (because of marketing) they force you to move so that they can make money. Dedicated servers where great back then because you could customize how you wanted your server to be run.

Legacy yes. Stage 2 no.

To put it simply there's dedicated servers for games, and there's player-run servers for games.

Dedicated are those run by the company themselves.

This game didn't use Peer-2-Peer connection, so it relies on dedicated servers.

Lfd2 is p2p but you can create public servers, there have mods and steamworkshop support. Any player with good connection and interested in collaborating with the game can create a dedicated server that can be found by other players in a search list of the game itself. This gives the game a own life and a way for players to remain active independently.

In Evolve this dont exist and whenever you want to play online you will have to invite your friends and host your own game. I dont want to be pessimistic but unfortunately we can not contribute to keeping the game alive. :steamsad:
