There is a proper way to fight it but the thing is just jank overall

When you are too close (like 10-20 secs of attacks), he will either :
- go a little bit underground (like half his body) then go down totally to pull you (and deal massive damages), so you have time to get out.
- OR he will just repel you with the white smog screaming attack, breaking your duo shield if not properly guarded
- OR send some "obstacles" that poison you
When he tries to suck you in his mouth, attracting all the sand and obstacles, i just spammed DASH or the SURF at the opposite direction, like SURF for 2 secs (so you have an initial boost), cancel it, then re-use it... rinse and repeat.
At the end of the suck, i was far enough from him.
When he sends you his blue shots, you can dodge at the last second to have an animation with Adol and Karja (press A on a controller for me), dealing a good chunk of damage. He did this multiple times in the fight so free DPS.
After he is under half health, he stop pulling you and start emiting the white fog (meaning if you don't guard properly, your shield will be broken and you are free to take another hit)
This phase is not really hard when you understand how to guard. It's just spamming guard at the right time at every white fog attacks, so you build your Revenge meter (and you had previously a book buffing it to X2.2).
For DPSing, just use duo mode all the time. Your DPS is far better tahn solo and with the Revenge meter, you deal huge damages.
For closing gaps, abuse mana bind.
Did it today in Hard without healing once (was at 200 hp each lol). Did 7 tries before killing him.
1-2 : got ♥♥♥♥♥ hard without seeing his other pattern under half health. Used every healing / rez items i had
2-5 : put him under half health and was stun in a cycle of rezzing and dying 1 sec later so another rez, another death .... Used every healing / rez items i had
6 : put him to 10% hp. Used half my healing items, though my life was not low enough to be killed so didn't use another heal (wrong lol)
7 : ded worm
I don't understand ppl saying camera is ♥♥♥♥ ? Just don't lock it and be free to use your camera ?
Come on dude...
Second phase theres 3 attacks, the one where it spins, easiest perfect block in the game, after that you can deal lots of damage
The slam and shake, distance yourself to not get caugth in the shake part.
And at last the 4 hit combo, first 3 hits are easy to block, the 4th is faster than you would expect, it should hit you one time and after that you can no damage it.
This is also how I beat it.
Do the free QTE at the start buy just running through his 1st attack, the force it to go in vacuum mode and do 1-2 hit - Perfect block(Easy do do when timed with sound effect) - Dual Skill - Repeat until Dead.
For some reasons, doing this will keep the boss in vacuum mode and he'll never go in phase 2.
This is true for the modern ys. Ys 0, 3 or 6 in normal, it's not at all the same thing as the normal of ys 8,9,10....
Personally I play in nightmare, and there the only boss who really posed a problem is Igi (I finished chapter 5, not started chapter 6).
And again it will take something really violent to be a real challenge, because the bento offers a lot of healing, and the level of optimization of build is more advanced than earlier in the game.
Phase 2 is a question of perfect blocking as he winds around, but if you continue to stay close to the base, he won't do this very much then he'll wind up repeating most of what he was doing in phase 1. You just have to watch for him to pop out for the back and forth slam, then just go to the side and melt him.
Boss is actually pretty well designed. It's not often I die more than twice on any boss in any game, and I'm honestly impressed the worm managed to do it. Hit detection is fine as is the openings needed to handle everything else. The TLDR is: skill issue.
