My hats off to you, especially since a certain sand boss (justttt post demo) was one-shotting me until I figured out the mechanic lol.
That being said, I have noticed the game getting easier and easier, so it's very possible you ruined your Inferno experience for yourself by switching to the highest difficulty after the game's slow(er) power crawl in the first several hours.
I don't have any complaints about the difficulty; I wouldn't call it hard, but it's not too easy either.
VII Normal = VIII Hard = IX Nightmare = X Inferno
(also depends on the affinity you have on Party system vs Duo system)
The fact that the latest Ys entries are also grind-less means that you can make the game too easy in any difficulty mode, for this i tend not to use status/level increase items each time.
fundamentally wrong. this game is about cycling skills to get that skll cost reduction.
hell you dont even need to touch the block button as Karjas skills with "perfect guard" can trigger the counter attacks and build up revenge gauge.
the off characters hp/sp regeneration is so high by the time you get done using the sp of one of them they should be mostly to fully healed and full sp on the off character. with it caping out at 75% skill cost reduction you can spam out even the most expensive skills or the duo skills for nothing eg the last skill you get costs 200 sp normally but you can get that down to 50 allowing you to cast it 4 times instead of 2
ill say this. Guard spam is noob mode. skill spam is how the games meant to be played.
yes that's why on most bosses I let the boss kill me to retry the fight without dying, at least it's a bit more challenging this way
