Ball lands right next to cup and is counted as unplayable

Has anyone else had this happen? I chipped the ball right next to the hole, and the game counted it as unplayable. This is the first major glitch that I've encountered, other than a visual glitch.

I've had it land on the rough near the green, in a clearly playable place, it be called "unplayable" and the shot reset. They should only make them unplayable if they are, literally, impossible to hit; and when they are so, always give the player the option to drop... The auto-unplayable crap destroys the integrity of the golf.

From what the last patch notes suggested grass and bushes might have been considered obstacles that would trigger an unplayable trigger, but clearly the problem is beyond that because it's still happening.

I also had the same issue as TC, but it's pretty rare (still sucks when it happens though...)

Honestly, this game is in a pretty busted state. The NPCs barely know how to play and bounce between nearly perfect, and completely incompetent. Sometimes it just gives up thinking altogether and softlocks you. The Scramble partner AI seems to actively sabotage you by missing 2 ft putts, and aiming for the rough despite the multiple challenges telling you specifically not to do that and punishing you for it when they do. Some challenges in world tour just cannot be completed even if you do what they want. Nobody truly knows how literally half the roster is unlocked.

Unless you are truly a masochist the only reasonable thing to do is hope for a patch and wait.

Yes. I'm waiting for them to fix the most critical issues before I actually start playing. That thing where shadows in night mode are imprinted on the screen, and it wasn't fixed before launch, is insane and shows that they didn't really have the game ready before launch. There's no way the devs didn't notice that. They noticed it, but didn't have time to fix it.

I just hope they don't run off with the money and disappear. I've seen that happen with Japanese games. Mr. Driller DrillLand, for example, was released broken on PC with a completely abnormal frame rate that is impossible to fix, but the developers never even admitted the problem and never released a patch to fix it.

On the other hand, Tetris Grand Master 4 was released with a similar frame rate issue, but the developers acknowledged the problem and within a few weeks released a patch that made the game run smoothly. So there is hope...

Oddly, I've only had this happen a couple of times, and not again in 10~15 hours of play since (inc. online multiplayer).

It's not unplayable either, mind.

The shadow one is annoying AF but it's rare and you can power through it - I'm waiting for it to happen again to see if there's anything you can do without having to complete or reset the current course.

The OB cup / unplayable border, I didn't saw in 15 hours of gameplay.

The meters showing on a put shot are just yards.

Some missions are busted during world tour, sometimes in your defavor and you can't complete them, sometimes in your favor and you'll get them depite not fullfilling the conditions. Not sure if anything is gatekeeped by them tho, and if there is, there's a loooooong grind to go through before it's of any real importance.

And AI is playing pretty badly, but I doubt that's going to be changed. If it was doing a birdie on each hole, it'd be pretty much unbeatable in stroke matches. That said it could at least be actually trying to be half decent in team plays...

Hopefully the devs will do another round of bugfixing at some point.

Most often, it happens for me when the ball is in close proximity to bushes, but clearly not actually underneath the bush and SHOULD still be playable.

I still enjoy this game overall, but the ball being incorrectly deemed 'Unplayable' is up there with my least favorite things about this game (next to the 'sidespin vs. impact timing' changes that deviate from all previous titles, and the performance issues).

Had it happen once after 35 hours. That's not often, but it absolutely should never, NEVER happen. Imagine that happening in a cash tournament.
