Game is amazing, but no voice acting?
No voice acting at all? First of all I don't think the whole games needs it, just text is fine while free roaming. I'm talking about the intro and cut-scenes would have been a nice touch to better immerse the player.

All and all the devs did an amazing job. It's simply a great game! 8 hours in so far.

(Playing on the Switch which runs really great!)

yes, no voice sir

we hear voice in our minds when we read and see the cut scene

it was same as Ender Lilies (prequel)

and it is an artistic choice I guess

Voice acting is unimmersive if it sucks ass. Look at Zelda for example. VA is at the bottom of the barrel for me in terms of importance to a video game. If no game ever had voice acting I would be totally fine with that.

Oh it isn't important. i just think it would have been nice to have. I get budget and time restraints. They probably just couldn't do it, and yeah bad voice acting would suck. Text only doesn't ruin the game for me; I thought about it for a minute and moved on.

I don't know about you. but I hear my voice in my head. Like most people I am not fond of my voice lol.

I just think a little voice acting would have gone a long way in this title.
It's the classic game vibe of silent text over a beautiful atmospheric soundtrack. Like the old JRPGs.
Worth noting, the game has emptyish sound files for apparently english and japanese voices. Maybe devs have/had plans to add voiceover, maybe it's just for some simple voice clips, or maybe completely nothing.
Nonverbal vocalizations would have perfectly sufficed, honestly. Like different gibberish sounds for different NPCs sort of deal. Some chuckles, grunts, growls and sighs here and there would also have made the NPCs feel less dead.

I can understand not having a budget for voice acting, but making some things dead silent is uncanny and feels out of place. Like the Tune animation having a massive flash but no sound effect. At least that part is consistent. The previous game also felt lacking in terms of sound design. I wonder if it's the same person or group?

They need to fire their sound designer if it's the same person who also worked on the first title. They aren't doing their damn job, I'd say. I'm only half joking about the firing part, but something has to change.

PS: The Homunculus enemy who uses a shotgun and a sword had no sound effects for any of its actions (not even the shooting has any sound). You first encounter them in the Crimson Forest.

go watch movie, no need budget for crap voice actors for gaming
It's a $20 game, why would you expect voice acting?

I agree with OP, should at least add VA for the original language. Shouldn't be too expensive.

Afterimage is the same price and fully voiced in 3 languages.

I believe it is not about the budget

but artistic choice

Voice acting wouldn't vibe with the Ender games, at least in my opinion.
These are games that are best enjoyed at your own pace and place a lot of importance on atmosphere and their music. Having voice actors would not only pierce through that ambience, but also dictate the pace.

Over use of voice acting would ruin the game, sure. Just voice acted cut-scenes would not at all, it would enhance it imo. To me the intro felt so rushed. I just feel like this games cut scenes are missing a little something to better draw me in. Just my opinion at the end of the day, it hardly effects the game at all.

This is just a minor issues i had with the game, other then that it's a solid 9 out of 10.

Hades is 5 dollars more, and has 21.000 voiced lines. The price of the game doesn't dictate the budget it costs to make the game.
