I was worried about it permadeathing me or something if I cut it too many times, so I admittedly haven't used the blade once xD
memories you ironically would never remember or experience if the Bloom had not uncovered and ate them.
there are also a few minor bonuses awarded along the way.
the only time I used the scalpel was in the chamber before the heart with the endless spawning enemies, because you can basically end that encounter in 3 turns with the scalpel.
OTOH, overall playing a stealth jack, I found the upgraded scalpel to be the best melee weapon in the game.
that said, you can use the annulet until you are done with the heart, then you can trade it with no repercussions to get that last merecaster.
Yeah, that's exactly what I have been doing [letting it feed on my main's brain as opposed to cutting].
Definitely didn't realize Point of No Return would be after Into the Depths. Beat the game earlier and headdesked when I realized how much longer I could have kept the annulet :)
