Is there any romance in this?

I remember loving the romance subplots that could develop with your allies in Baldur's Gate: Shadows of Amn, and this looks somewhat similar in certain regards.

Thus I have to ask, is there any romance in this? (A rather hopeless romantic, thus the presence of romance in a game is a huge selling point for me.)

There is no romance for good reasons. One, the character portraits in this game makes you wanna barf.

Plenty of other RPGs coming soon that I'm confident will have excellent romance options.

You're just doing it wrong. You need to find Snerf. He will explain how humans romance. First you need somwhere between 2 and 29 consenting adults and they must all be wearing expensive shoes. Once you've fulfilled that requirement, he can explain the rest.

I think he means Tybir. I don't know if it goes anywhere, but Tyber refers to an old boyfriend in conversation early in the game. I did not keep him in my party because I wanted to make room for Matkina, so I do not know if it goes anywhere.

Personally, I always thought romances seemed forced, awkward, and stupid. But thats not what you asked. Im about 5~7 hours into the game and I've yet to see it.

I thought it odd since the game seems to be so text heavy. Its pretty fun though,

No i'm dead serious. You find him in the bloom where the surgeons are. Hes the Order of Truth member that has been looking into the tattoos. This is the end of Aligerns story.
