Although further development may occur, Cryptic Sea alone shall be responsible for any future updates or support for the title from this point forward wholesale.
I wanted to let you guys know and to thank you for supporting this project and our efforts regarding it. I have met some remarkable players and humans along the way, and I will never forget the experiences I shared with all of you, some more than others, but that is how it goes with Sub Rosa.
Things will continue here, as our wonderful volunteer staff is still in command but with augmented superpowers.
They dealt with terrible and dumb things on a daily basis with patience and grace, so they will keep the dream alive here on the Discord, and I appreciate them.
Thank you for everything, and moving forward I hope you all receive the things you truly deserve in this life.
Best,
w1nters
I'm sure a lot of us share the sentiment that 2021 wasn't much better than 2020 -- Especially towards the end, when the announcement dropped regarding Sub Rosa.
Rosa Games really became a thing around December 2020. I had of course made a server back in August 2020 and was working on it, and a lot of our veterans will remember that deathmatch was my first gamemode, followed quickly by the first, very buggy iteration of zombies. Since then, it's been a bit of a blur for many different reasons. Somehow we've ended up here and I hope this is just the beginning.
Recently, as some of you may know, I decided to take a further step and officially call RG a business. Nothing effectively changes here, other than taking on much higher expenses as a result of renting out an office space and spending money on my own hardware, and the fact that in a few years I'll be able to put CEO on my resume if I decide to close up shop (The ultimate long con). But if that doesn't happen, then I see us taking on larger projects than simply building communities that people play in, possibly game development. I can thank my current staff team for giving me the confidence to make that statement.
But of course that's probably years down the line. Though we've already learned plenty of lessons about the rights and wrongs of development and server organization, I think we still have a long road ahead, of organizing and learning before we take on such a massive project.
Still though, we've been planning expansions and I anticipate our plans will soon come to fruition. With that being said, I will be opening our planned Project Zomboid server tonight. It will have 2x skill progression, will be PvP oriented (no safety mode), and will be online every day from 10 AM to 11:59 PM. Details will be forthcoming in our new Project Zomboid section(Accessible through the roles🧻 channel) on how to get into the server.
As for our other projects, we will continue to work on currently existing projects and to expand outwards into new projects, likely bringing on new staff members in the process. As for Sub Rosa, I've given my projects a little more thought and have decided to continue to make and expand upon existing modes so as long as people play them.
I hope 2022 provides everyone with a much better year than the previous two. And in the event that it's still a comparably difficult year, I hope Rosa Games provides some level of escape from whatever is going on in your life; whether it's through playing on our servers, meeting new people, or simply hanging out with the community. Thank you for your continued support and here's to a happy new year.
