When you try to resolve the "Message" part of "Behind the bar", in French I couldn't find the answer with the clue in the message on the table (I drop after 20min).
As I know sometime translastion are not that good in this kind of game (aka detective games with riddles), I switched my game to English. Once I changed the language for English, the hint was REALLY CLEAR and was lost SO HARD in the translation. I resolved the mystery in 2 min.
The message in French is talking about the ART. The message in English is talking about when the people we love are not there anymore.
You can't find the answer in French with the hint on the message.
It would be good to change the hint in French.
BTW dev team, the game is amazing, and thank you for bringing the game in other languages.

Alors qu'avec la version anglaise, tout est très clair.
j'avoue que j'ai passé un moment très frustrant dessus, jusqu'au changement de langue. Je ne voulais pas que d'autres se tirent les cheveux sur ce sujet !
Je ne comprend vraiment pas pourquoi ce message a ete traduit de cette maniere, aucune allusion claire a la date de la mort comme en anglais , normal que j'ai pas trouvé ^^
In the last chapter, in the "I.D.O.L" part, the adjectives are correctly inverted for the first two instances of "Contenu de l'I.D.O.L.", but there's also an inversion of the last one that is incorrect : "bribe de souvenir toute" should be "toute bribe de souvenir".
I have to constantly switch between both version to be sure to not lose meaning from the orginal version.
In my honest opinion it is a poor work (if an human has even put work into it not sure if it is an AI trad/google trad of some sort).
EDIT : After playing a bit more I'm 100% conviced that this localization has not been made by a person. It'a absolutely blatant in the "SPeildance" scenario when in french it is the english syntax that is the correct answer and not the french one.
From an indie studio, with all the success they had with the first opus I expected a bit more awareness of such aspect of a game development and thought they would have done such thing more professonially by hiring people that do it for a living.
Hi: we did use human translators for the game - in fact, they are all listed in the Credits for the game. Games such as these can be very difficult to translate accurately when originally written in English as you pointed out that the meaning can be lost. We appreciate the feedback and are using all feedback to improve the localization of the game.
Yet the poor quality of the localization has nothing to with the difficulty of translation. The localization adds for instance adjectives that literally does not exists in the English version and that has no meaning in French localization in the context of the sentence (to be fair in whatever context for some of them), giving the feeling of a "non-human" translation.
For instance when talking about the data disk, in some scenario where the english version says "disk", the french localization is "the useful disk". Like what ???
My favorite one is in Academic impact where "he fell from the bridge" becomes "he fell from the horrible bridge". The ♥♥♥♥ does that means !
You have been uber trolled by your translator.
If not, here's a quick summary of the errors I encountered:
Hesper Towers : the Issa apologizing note about the picnic says "Désolée" could misslead us as it's in feminine form instead of masculine. The correct form is "Désolé" without an extra e at the end.
Newspaper at the chapter 2 selection screen : the date shown at the bottom right is in US form. In french we should read 16/11/1973 instead of 11/16/1973.
Chapter 5-4 : you don't have to translate the boat name "Sea Breeze" into "Air Marin". It's a proper noun. Not a big deal, but it can be disturbing. Beware of the solution panel at the end if you switch the name, the two words are inversed to suit french well "Air Marin" equals "Breeze Sea" ! :)
Final Chapter, I.D.O.L panel : I concur with my predecessor, the last sentence "bribe de souvenir" "toute" for translating "all" "memories" makes absolutely no sense in french. The reverse should leads to the validation of the panel : "toute" "bribe de souvenir".
For me, the translation seemed correct without being brilliant, though. I can imagine how complicated it must be to translate a game like this into so many different languages at the same time. I didn't mind at any point, though, as everything is understandable. It's only the I.D.O.L. panel in the final chapter that really stopped me in my tracks.
I also concur with the extra adjectives put in french solution panels. It's weird, most of the time but not blocking.
Great game, by the way, I absolutely loved it ! From a gamedesign point of view, I just regret the absence of a clear timeline of events that could be updated as the investigation progresses. I already felt this in the previous game. I don't know if you've considered it, but it would be a really cool addition.
