BattlEye
Hey everyone,

So I'm struggling to play online. Everytime I try, I get the notifcation that BattlEye must be enabled to play online. So I've tried the following:

Checking it in the R* launcher
Removing args.txt
Editing the BELauncher.exe file
Making sure I have no -nobattleye in the launch options

Everything I've tried has done nothing. I play lots of LSPDFR, and I wonder if at this point its just that I still have my mods installed (removed dinput8.dll). Do I just need to get a clean copy of the folder?

Thanks for help!

Of course, not on linux?
No commandline.txt with -nobattleye?
Editing the belauncher.exe ... means what?
Is the battleye service in services.msc starting? Even there?
(mine is 'manual' and works just fine)
Tried uninstalling battleye/reinstalling? No av/sec interfering?

Same/more info -

I've tested my game modded for storymode, and only removed dinput8.dll - and installed battleye, and haven't had issues with it - when testing. Generally, I straight up use a vanilla folder for online.

edit - from link -

"Have you run gta5_be.exe 4 from command prompt to uninstall battleye and try to reinstall?"

Nothing in my commandline.txt
I set the SilentInstall to 0 as I saw in another post
It does start but then the game just doesn't open
Not sure of how to uninstall/reinstall

Thank you for the help

Try changing status in Windows of BattleEye service from manual to auto (if it's not disabled). Some told they it helped for them.

It works for me now if you install "Proton BattleEye Runtime" in the Steam Library and use the following launch option:

PROTON_BATTLEYE_RUNTIME=~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton\ BattlEye\ Runtime/ %command%

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Steam/Game-specific_troubleshooting#Grand_Theft_Auto_V

I'm not sure when it was changed, but I got kicked when going online until recently. I use Arch, so can't comment on other distros.
