maybe R* does some social experiments how to motivate people to participate more in setup missions for heists
people often complained in the old days that they failed to find people for certain unpopular heists like prison break and ranted about how others only aimed for the finals
it would be interesting to see some statistics about these weeks, if there was a real change in behavior visible or if people simply ignored the heist completely and kept their focus on other more lucrative tasks
at least beginners have now an easy entry heist into the game
but realistically, I think it's much simpler than that.. I think it's just 2x pay on the setups so they can make 2x pay on the finale for next week.. and milk 2 weeks from the one event..
1) Players playing with others is getting less common.. friends are being lost and randoms are risky to try playing with sometimes.
2) Players are also a liability.. even if they're not modding, are they going to be useful or just take up your available lives after blowing your cover?
3) More players = more time.. more time waiting for a group, more time synching, and sometimes more time waiting on players to complete their objectives..
The only reason they would make it 2 player minimum is because players feel they could set up and do their own heist for 500k instead of helping for a collective 100k. Cause they're not wrong. That's why when I use my phone for quick contact missions, I will abort and retry if I get queued for one of the preps or even the scene of the crime finale.
If I really wanted to do those, I could run them all by myself and get paid better.. Taking away that ability will upset a number of people to the point they have nothing to do with the heist all together. I would fall into that category but with the exception of helping friends that needed to get it done for the first time.. if they need quick money, it'd be better to just run my casino heist for 85% to said friend..
I don't think you get paid for preps if you host or run solo.. helpers get paid for preps as motivation to help in the first place.. host gets paid out at the end..
so is cluck better pay for helpers since it's doubled?
I don't know if it's on purpose to prevent money making or just a technical issue but I can't quick join either perico or casino heists anymore. It used to work but now it always results in an endless loading screen and I must disconnect my internet or close game to proceed. Old heists still works fine, I haven't tried quick joining this new clucking bell "heist".
Seems every update lately has been aimed towards playing solo. They even made possible sales missions in solo lobby, that was previously only available in public. They are probably aware of how unplayable the public lobbies are and instead of solving the modder problem they release solo content to stop players from abandoning the game.
I don't think they care the slightest about if players are socializing and playing together. It's all about balancing the game so no activity gives too much money per hour. You pay with real money or you pay with your time to advance in this game. That's the whole concept, that's why so many give up and buy shark cards. Having 2x on finale would mean too much ez money per hour for players. I suspect these weekly events will soon be a gta+ exclusive thing or so bad they will be pointless without gta+.
