Because there's nothing better out there. This is literally the best Urban AAA sandbox game, with a story, that you can get right now, at least until GTA 6 releases on PC.

Well, technically at least.

There is one game that gives GTA V a run for its money, that isn't another GTA game mind you.

Only modded though, as the game vanilla just doesn't have enough in it, and that games is -> Modded Cyberpunk 2077. As far as urban games go, Modded Cp77 is slowly catching up to GTA V: It's got minigames, a racing scene, a rollercoaster, interactable apartments, vehicles, vehicle courier, delivery jobs, a taxi job, romance, a top notch story, and more. Plus it's single player, not reliant on some Stupid constantly-updating launcher, and is DRM Free.

what about gta4?

Sure , but that's to be expected from a GTA game. Outside of the GTA series though, there's only one game that's even remotely close to what GTA games offer.

Hmm... Imo, they offer the violent side of what GTA games offer, but not the sand in the box nor mature side of things. Granted, I've never played those games, so there may be more info about those games that I'm missing.

Long story short, no other company is willing to challenge Rockstar's IP because Rockstar pays many companies off to not infringe on their cash cow playing field. This is why people continue to play GTA. There are reasons there is no competition and Rockstar likes to keep it that way.
