edit -
I removed the folder and files as instructed. Folder was renamed effectively deleting it.
I then verified the game files as stated. Steam 'fixed'/updated all the removed files.
I then compared everything steam replaced with what I originally had.
Nothing changed between both sets of files, but the 1 .ini.
I can see this helping someone with permissions/access issues with their battleye files/folders. Or those that may have done things do those files/folders in attempts to fix their issues. In my case - it does absolutely nothing as I got the same exact files as I had been given on 9/17/2024.
ps
not positive if this will work but zip archive battleye folder after verfying then (when you delete said folder) you can restore it from the archive. - havent tested this but battle is a bit re... so may have to fix it mutiple times a day. ive had to. I wonder if making the folder read only would prevent it from doing whatever it is doing to cause the "battleye needs to update" error.
