BattlEye FIX
BattlEye does not auto update so here is the work around:
-find your GTA5 install location (right click game> manage >browse local files) and locate the battleye folder
~~ *SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\BattlEye
- delete the battleye folder
- back on steam app, right click your GTA5 game > properties > local files > verify integrity.
wait for this to complete
-play game, battleye should no longer force close your game

video instructions (are for a different game, but similar remedies)

This did nothing here. Only 1 file was 'fixed'- the .ini I edited that has nothing to do with updating. Beyond that, not a single thing changed before/after the update. 100% same.

edit -
I removed the folder and files as instructed. Folder was renamed effectively deleting it.
I then verified the game files as stated. Steam 'fixed'/updated all the removed files.
I then compared everything steam replaced with what I originally had.
Nothing changed between both sets of files, but the 1 .ini.

I can see this helping someone with permissions/access issues with their battleye files/folders. Or those that may have done things do those files/folders in attempts to fix their issues. In my case - it does absolutely nothing as I got the same exact files as I had been given on 9/17/2024.

Did you only delete the .ini file? try deleting the whole folder, that is what i did, better to force it to re grab all the files rather then hope the deletion of one file fixes it.

If you remove battleye you can only play story mode now

after you delete the folder go (back in steam library) to GTA5 > properties > local files > verify integrity.

ps
not positive if this will work but zip archive battleye folder after verfying then (when you delete said folder) you can restore it from the archive. - havent tested this but battle is a bit re... so may have to fix it mutiple times a day. ive had to. I wonder if making the folder read only would prevent it from doing whatever it is doing to cause the "battleye needs to update" error.
