System requirements may increase with new updates
The reliable leaker Tez2 has leaked that Rockstar is working on bringing the current-gen version of GTA V (Gen 9, PS5 and XSX/S) to PC. This version was previously known as Expanded & Enhanced and brings several graphical improvements such as raytracing support, etc. With this, it is very likely that the game will run only at DX12, increasing the game's system requirements and people with low-end PCs will no longer be able to play the game with a good framerate. And there may even be people who still have a video card that doesn't support DX12. If possible, help ask Rockstar to make the version without raytracing support of GTA V available on the Steam beta branch so that those who do not have a powerful enough computer to run the new version can still at least play the story mode without framerate or stuttering issues. Something similar happened with Capcom's Resident Evil franchise, RE7, RE2 and RE3 received updates on PC to add raytracing support. The game that previously ran in DX11 now only runs in DX12, making the game incompatible for people who have video cards that do not support DX12. In addition, people who have video cards that support DX12 and were able to play the new version of these games complained about several bugs and performance drops even with raytracing disabled. There is even an article on Digital Foundry talking about this, the article is called "Resident Evil's new PC patches compromise visuals and hit performance hard". With fans complaining about this, Capcom made the old versions that do not support raytracing available on the Steam beta branch. So it would be nice if Rockstar did the same, because it is unfair that a person who in the past bought GTA V having the minimum system requirements, now can no longer play the game because the minimum system requirements have increased.

That has been the case ever since it came out. You ever saw the system requirements when it first launched on PC? My old 12 year old system could run it on highest settings and nowadays Id be lucky to get 20 fps on that system. Theres no need to write such a big block of text no ones gonna read anyway

I've looked it up here and the game's minimum system requirements have never changed. Of course, GTA Online has become more demanding, here in a full session my fps sometimes drops below 30 with the graphics settings a little below the standard running at 1080p. But the story mode continues to run well at 60 fps. But with this new Gen 9 update, it's very likely that this will affect even the story mode.

That is because the requirements posted are for the singleplayer. I'd love to see a system run Windows 10, Steam, Rockstar Launcher and all the other Win services AND run GTA Online on just 4 - 8GB Ram. Now that would be a fun little experiment haha

Additional Notes: Over time downloadable content and programming changes will change the system requirements for this game. Please refer to your hardware manufacturer and www.rockstargames.com/support for current compatibility information. Some system components such as mobile chipsets, integrated, and AGP graphics cards may be incompatible

Always read the small print, ALWAYS.

Not to be mean, but I've heard these rumors before. Unless Rockstar makes a announcement, then I'll only treat it as a rumor and nothing more. Besdies that, E&E is merely okay, and not a graphical overhaul of the game, so I'm not exactly concerned about the supposed graphics improvement.

If it were just a matter of not wanting to buy one, I would agree with your argument, but there are people who don't have the financial means to make such major upgrades to their PCs, and I include myself in that. My PC is old, but I can play GTA V's story mode at 1080p 60 fps with the graphics settings a little below standard. If I wanted to make a good upgrade to my PC, I would basically have to replace almost all of its parts, which would be very expensive and I don't have that kind of money at the moment. In the country where I live, salaries are low, the currency is devalued, products are taxed at very high rates, technology items and games are very expensive here, so it's not easy to constantly upgrade your PC to keep it from becoming outdated. I believe that if Rockstar made the old version of GTA V available on the Steam beta branch so that you can play the story mode more smoothly, it wouldn't hurt anyone, everyone would benefit from it.

GTA 5 still supports DX9 (DX10 officially), so even if they added DX12, older DirectX versions should still be available to those using GPUs that don't support newer versions. That won't raise requirements for those using DX11 and below, since the DX12 version with new features should not affect them at all. Unless R* ♥♥♥♥♥ something up along the way, we should all benefit from the E&E update.
