BattlEye is spyware and shouldn't be required to play online.
Firstly, I'm not a cheater, and don't intend to cheat. I'm not against anti-cheats. However Battleye is not the right anti-cheat engine to do so. It's just a band-aid solution over Rockstars badly designed infrastructure. Hackers will hack regardless. Day one after this was added is proof that they did and continue to do so.

I do not want to use this to play online. I don't think it's a good thing for many reasons. Reasons being is that obviously, it is basically spyware. Reading all of my files and programs all at once on my PC. It absolutely destroys performance as well. It disallows people who want to play the game on steam deck by completely locking them out from the game that they PURCHASED. You're also blocking Linux players enjoying the game as well. Is that a a worthy sacrifice to make for a program that's not even preventing hackers in the first place? Spoiler: NO IT'S NOT.

Absolutely ridiculous that now I'm also locked out from playing the game unless I install this untrustworthy program. This has entirely ruined the game for me. BattlEye is not the answer. Remove this trash. It has way more negatives than it does positive. This needs to be removed from the game entirely. All it's done is harm the people who want to play the game normally.

Thank you Rockstar for basically making GTA:O no longer an option for me, and many other people who have been locked outside from playing the game regardless of being a cheater or not. Thanks for yet another reason to play the game on console rather than PC. First was the Rockstar launcher, second was Battleye. You're continuously making bad decisions and expect people to just deal with it. Well I'm not..

This won't go nowhere from the game and is here to stay regardless if people moan or not.

It will also be in gta 6 .

What you consider "moaning" is actually constructive criticism. Something about it needs to be changed. People like you accepting every bad decision that's made is exactly why the game has and will continuously be on a steady downfall, especially in GTA 6. The more you allow them to get away with things like this, the worst the game will get. This is unacceptable.

Fact 1: Rockstar did not want to stop cheating. They directly profit from allowing cheaters to play. When a cheater plays for hundreds of hours before getting banned, they are more likely to buy a new copy so they can continue cheating for hundreds of hours more.

Fact 2: BattlEye is a notoriously weak anti-cheat that is easily bypassed and hasn't done anything to stop cheating in any game that it's ever been used in. Rockstar knew that choosing BattlEye would have virtually no impact on cheating in GTAV.

The only reason they added BattlEye at all is to convince gullible people that they suddenly care about cheating. Then the gullible people pre-order GTA 6 because they think that it will have strong anti-cheat.

It's all about driving up pre-orders and first quarter sales of GTA 6.

Well said. Rockstar does not care. This was nothing but a public stunt to "please" the people who negatively spoke about the cheaters to shut them up. Nothing but a publicity stunt to maximize their profits, and to clear up "controversy".

Even if you give them the benefit of the doubt for attempting to add an anti-cheat, look at how the game is still. If they really cared about cheaters, they would do all they could to fix glitches that actually negatively harms the game on other platforms, or implement an anti-cheat that actually does something rather than adding more hindrances to the player even more. The negatives to a non-cheating player who uses battleye far outweighs the positives it does for the game.

Nah that guy is right. Rockstar doesn't give a F about steam posts. Basically no developer does honestly.

Thing is, I agree with you about battleye, but this entire post was a waste of your time.

Agree ! BattlEye is a completely useless program that only causes more problems.
Not only does it not stop cheaters and modders it actually helps them instead.

Without real data and statistics of bans, you can't know that. Just use some menus, play with them for a longer period and then at least you will know something. Don't be afraid to probably one day lose your account, becouse as you said it's useless program.

Why constructive criticism here?? There's no one here to help you with that..... This is nothing more than a henhouse. GO TELL ROCKSTAR. There is an avenue for that.....don't use peer support....it's no different there than here. I ask them REPEATEDLY to make a public statement, and all they did is show me the door.

Does cheaters buying new copies of the game make up for the loss of Shark Cards sold because people are getting money from script kids?

It's never really been proven that those paths cross.
