Armor and Speed
Does adding armor to a vehicle increase mass and, consequently reduce speed/acceleration?

No. It has no negative effect on speed or acceleration, and even helps a little.

It does have a massive effect in cornering capabilities though, it makes the car much heavier and if you can't turn corners I don't see how people can say armor does not effect speed. Are there drag races in the game apart from player made races at the airport? How else does acceleration benefit anyone when you can't take the first corner that comes up?

Armor does have an effect on the car, sometimes in rare cases a positive effect, as it pushes the car down which increases grip but this is by far not the case with every car. You have to experiment with each car to see what armor level works best for that car.

Armor has 0 effect on handling/driving, well beyond the fact that if you will get your unarmored car damaged it will start dragging to the side or slowing down. Maybe you had different suspensions or whatever.

Not true, anyone can test this. Go in the game and try one without armor and then put armor on it. Even a second player in the passenger seat adds weight, why would they exclude armor from this. Complete bs and 5 minutes of testing can confirm this.

Passengers only affect bike speeds.

It affects both bike and car weight. Again, go try it out, it's quite obvious. Also, a quick search will give you plenty of discussions on the matter but the best results are to just go try it yourself. I drive my Toreador all the time, sometimes in missions everyone gets in and the car CLEARLY handles much heavier. There's no doubt about it.

Are you sure you are in correct forums? Cause every single source you can find will tell otherwise. For example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A13_Kr95cvE
What you notice with other players in a car could be just some desync/lag issues.

In straight line speed, not in weight which does impact cornering ability. This is what I do man, I have tested more cars than Broughy probably. Another thing you can try is bumping into some NPC with both settings. Without armor they will bully you, with full armor you'll stop them. Especially noticeable in the Toreador. I'm sure if I search long enough I can find code that confirms it but honestly I'm too lazy and it's too obvious by simply jumping in the game and trying it.

Also..

You can look at you ifruit app and see armor increases weight.

Well bumping just proves that having armor is obviously better. Those ifruit/ingame sliders/stats show the humidity of air at best.
