How do I get an activation code for GTA 5?

I need an activation code for GTA 5 but I don't know how to get one

I guess what I've found out sucks but its true. If you download the game from a friends library you can not play the game. They get one activation/CD key that they can only use for their game. It ties the code to their Rockstar social account so if you try to use it, it will come back used. The only way to play the game is to pay the $60 to buy the game. It sucks but Rockstar put this in for a reason to prevent people from just passing the game on without paying. Stop trying to sit there and get a CD Key your not going to get one.

It means that you need your friend's Rockstar account credentials if you want to play the game.

seriously? The game took me like 20 hours to download only for me to have to pay the full $60 to play it? Im not rich? Everyone just play the ps3 version ITS MUCH CHEAPER

Only idiot would spend so much money for the convenient of having it in steam library .
The R* version is already 50 % cheaper , and don't have to deal having double DRM , witch for some give loot of trouble.
Also GTA on PS3 / X360 is no longer been updated an no more DLCs .

Michael, submit a ticket addressing this and be a little patient. Rockstar support has to shift though tons of tickets and might take some time for yours. People are facing various sorts of issues with GTA V, and it being a popular game you can understand how big their stockpile of tickets is. You should get a reply within 1-2 weeks probably, and please submit one single ticket which perfectly explains your issue and how you wish to solve it.

GamingGoat, select GTA V in your library section. If you look at the links at the right hand side, you can see "CD Key" being listed there. Click it to find your Activation code, but it won't matter anyways. To link that key to your rockstar account, you need to download the game fully in steam, open the game and log in to your rockstar social club account from the social club launcher. Make sure you have a fast net or it won't be able to connect to the rockstar servers. If you manage to do that successfully, you will now notice that in your social club account it says you own the game and that this steam account is linked to that social club account.
