Single player with custom character?

I've had GTA V for a short time. So far, I like the customization of the Online mode where I can make my own guy, with my own apartment and cars, but I am not a big fan of the multiplayer experience with other players (a bit of hit and miss).

Have people discovered any way to keep the custom character stuff but also keep the experience single player?



I am aware of Director mode in sp, but that is just a temporary thing and not that custom. I think I've heard of people doing online missions by themselves though I do not know how because the game always makes me into a host and then waits until someone else joins...

If I understand you, you're saying you want to take the online customization stuff, 10 car garages and all that into Single player. That type of mod would take a lot of work so I wouldn't expect to see it soon.

You can do online missions by yourself, yes. It will put you in a match with other people if spots are open, but I have been told that you can disable matchmaking in Settings somewhere and then can manually invite instead.

Yeah your best bet is to do an invite only session (load into story mode, bring up start menu, online, play online, invite only) as that will give you the online world/missions and you can choose to do the jobs alone or to invite people in. Kinda the best of both worlds, you can explore and enjoy stuff without worrying about other people, and then if you find a mission you can't complete yourself or you want to do a heist (which require four people except the first) you simply invite some people.

Right after starting this thread (as usual) I found out the solo option in the Online menu. In my defense the menus in GTAV are insane, with so many options stuffed in so many different corners.

It's a shame you cannot do the races against AI opponents (at least not that I can see).

I agree with you on the menus especially with the menus nestled within menus within a menu.

And yeah no ai or ghost options for other racers, but as I mentioned you can always invite people in for the race, then pop back into an invite only.

The menus are indeed terrible. For example, having to actually exit out of online public to story mode if you want to switch to invite only.
