Upgrading cars and SAVING them (sp)...
I almost quit playing (sp) because I would put money and time into customizing a vehicle only to lose it!!!

The whole "Garage/Impound" design and functionality is flawed and bugged but here's what I do, hopefully this will help new players:
-------------------------------------------
- Impound lot - keep it empty! (these 2 spots must be open, or you may lose your custom vehicle forever) A saved car ends up here if it is abandoned for any reason.

- Garage - always leave a spot open for that new addition and bring it here just to make sure it's saved.

- Getting rid of unwanted cars is a pain; sticky bombs help. Then you gotta lose the cops.

- Destroyed cars are gone for good!

- Leaving your car for a mission or side event; car may disappear for a few hours till it's towed to impound. (In other words wait a bit or sleep/save till it shows up) In some cases it will be parked right around the corner waiting for you, then towed to impound later.

- Random vehicles you steal will not clutter up your "impound lot", BUT, if you take them to the safehouse/garage/spray or save then it probably will take up a spot at impound.

- *using your phone to call a taxi is extremely helpful in keeping the garage properly stocked! I can't stress it enough, the impound lot must be empty at all times! It's annoying but worth it!

- Haven't tried it yet but apparently a character's main vehicle will keep any customization and always respawn for you, upgrade those first!
------------------------------------------
It's not perfect and yesterday I had two identical white fetzer's show up at the impound for no reason, got rid of one and then impound was magically empty, but I haven't lost a custom car lately!

Wish I would have known this from the start; spent a fortune in upgrades (preorder bonus gone), poof...

Anything we can do to make this easier? Sticky bombs are $400 a piece and losing the cops even with one star is a hassle! I took the time to write this so if it helps please comment so it doesn't end up in the forum graveyard

Yeah any player starter vehicle always respawns. When franklin gets that green scooter bike too that also respawns.

Have you tried upgrading them and does it save so it's always upgraded on respawn?

Yes they stay upgraded as well. Not entirely sure on franklins green scooter he gets later but I dont see why it would be different than the other player vehicles.

When i was playing Franklin i had the Imponte Duke O’Death vehicle in his mum's garage. Then Franklin was upgraded to the new white house away up on the hills and the car disappeared - so i thought, as it never went with me. The Bike and other car went to the garage at the new house automaticaly.

I had a brain wave to try and find his mum's house again and see if the car was outside? (seeing as it was no longer marked as a safe house on the map) It took me a while, but i eventualy found the house but NO car... Then i decided to get out my old car and walk up to the 'old' garage... it opened automaticaly and would you believe it, it was IN the garage!!!!

Craazzzy!

^ hadn't thought of checking the old safehouse, good idea! Usually I avoid saving cars at the safehouse garage unless it's a quick save and go kinda thing...

Speaking of quick save I had no idea that you could save the game using your phone!
