Heists -- Changing Approach

So, I'm on the second major heist of the game. Going after the Merryweather hoard.
I selected the 'subtle'(?) approach of attacking an offshore site rather than attacking the freighter.

I'm trying to get through flight school with Michael.
Things were going great until I got to the first helicopter mission.

I can't fly the stupid thing in a straight line, or pass that little obstacle course in a passable time.

Apparently this mission will require the use of a helicopter, and I don't want to do this one anymore.

How can I change the approach?

You don't actually need to finish flight school to do the heist, so you can skip it if you are having a lot of trouble with it.

But don't you need to be able to fly a helicopter well to do the heist?
I can barely keep the thing level. It wobbles so much.

OP, if you finish flight school it will max your flight rating, so it's worth doing if you can. I suggest trying different control schemes in your options and settings. I use a controller myself, but people have told me that they can fly better by switching away from the default controls for keyboard/mouse.

Edit: Also since it's single player you could probably find a trainer with infinite vehicle health cheats. I don't usually suggest people cheat but if you can't do it otherwise...
