How to make GTA use more RAM?
Okay, so I recently upgraded to 8GB RAM after I was getting bad stuttering with 4GB. When I had 4GB, the physical memory usage would always be at 95-98%, and I read online that GTA uses 5-7GB.

So, I upgraded to 8GB, but when I'm playing, it only ever uses about 48-55%, which is around 3.9-4.1GB.

How can I make GTA utilize more RAM, because the performance hasn't changed much at all from 4GB.

EDIT: I'm using 8GB, 2x2GB 1066mhz and 1x4GB 1333mhz.

Why'd you want to force GTA use more RAM? The game uses as much RAM as it needed and forcing it to use more RAM will result in nothing. To increase performance look into other ways around.

P.S. GTA V eats 1.8 - 2.1 GB here on medium settings.

Less RAM=more stuttering
I don't want stuttering

Stuttering won't be helped by throwing more RAM at the problem. GTAV is already using the RAM it requires. If you are serious about reducing the stuttering, look into a faster HDD/SSD or OCing the other parts of the RAM system: i.e. Higher speed DDR RAM modules and a faster RAM bus speed. That's of course, if the stuttering is not being caused by CPU and/or GPU bottlenecking.

Just noticed that you're using 2x2GB + 1x4GB memory modules. That is definately not an optimal memory setup. Modules should be used in pairs for best performance. Fixing that situation would be your first priority!

Nah. I'll just play it how it is. I don't feel like paying an extra 200 bucks just to get a few extra frames in a game that is going to die in a months time. Overheating is already an issue and OCing wouldn't be much help to that problem.

And nothing is bottlenecking. I'm sure of it. Not to be rude or anything, but trying to use a big techy vocabulary isn't impressing anybody.

Module setup is fine.

Might as well just buy a new system and actually get my money's worth.

Ouch. No dual channel ram.. ouchy!
Tint May 24, 2015 @ 2:51pm
And you spent $40 for a single 4gb stick of ram :( $12 more you could have got 8gb to run dual channel.

Example deal http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104446&cm_sp=Homepage_FDD-_-P1_20-104-446-_-05242015

and there are many more deals similar.

P.S. I love crispy chicken.

I'm sure you aren't gay, but 40$ is 40 dollars.

If I'm reading this correctly you have three sticks of RAM in your rig? That could be the issue. RAM lanes usually operate efficiently on even numbers. Google up RAM support for your rig (matching RAM lanes) with regards to your OS and motherboard.
Hitting the RAM limit will instantly make your game stutter. Try spinning in a circle in game. If things are constantly pausing (stuttering) to load while u spin then you're over the RAM limit. Windows likes even lanes when juggling VRAM and system RAM.
