Heists with only Two Players

Hello! I am considering whether or not to buy GTA V. I don't like playing with strangers, so I only play with my girlfriend. I read that the Heists beyond the tutorial require 4 players. Is it possible to play them with only 2 in a private session, like in Payday or Left 4 Dead?

No, only the tutorial heist is 2 players. The rest you will need 4.

While heists require 4 players, most of the contact missions can be done with two players. So that said, plenty of stuff to playthrough online if you just want to play with one other person.

Only the first heist (Fleeca) is playable by only 2 players. However, most missions can be played by two players. Activities such as golf, tennis, and arm wrestling are 2 player activities as well.

theres some heists you can do with two but most of them need 4 or more. play with people its more fun

I don't like to play with pugs either, played long enough to know the downsides and it's more fun to heist with friend(s) in other games. I haven't played gta online yet but i heard the kicking trend and rubberbanding are still an issue. They should make it so you can do heists with only 1 friend and replace other 2 with bots, ofcourse giving flat cut to bots so it can't be abused. Even soloing like that would be fun.

There are many lone wolves in games and also people who just want to have fun with 1 or 2 friends (or they don't have more friends who own the game). I don't see it being a problem if R* let's people do heists with 2 or 3 and remaining ones are bots with atleast 20% cut so you can't go for all in on yourself.

That would make me very very excited about online, now it's kind of like "nah.." even tho co-op is the key to fun, but i just want to have my own guy(s) with me who knows their stuff and we think alike.

Is there anyway to suggest that to rockstar or do they even care about feedback? I am 101% sure that would make a ton of people happy. Someone might bring argument about anti-social aspect of it but if you want to play with other players you will and you'd get more money but if you don't you won't do them at all since it's all about enjoyment and fun and shouldn't be forced upon anyone.

The idea behind online heists is to create a mission team. Like mercs. So if you host the heist you can chose who you want in it. That is why you can see their stats and level. Or you can freelance and join a random heist. So having NPCs as heist members online kinda defeats the purpose and will probably never happen (could be wrong). That is what single player is for.

My advice is to look for a laid back crew you and your girlfriend can join and get along with. The game is a LOT more fun online with a group to run heists/missions/races.

I'd beg the differ for defeating the purpose, the whole point of this game is to have fun, like every other casual game (Don't see gta becoming an esport). OP can't play single player with his girlfriend and even if they could they wouldn't gain anything repeating the heists. This is only hypothesis but what if his girlfriend isn't very good player and would get ♥♥♥♥ for it, that's the fastest way to ruin experience of whole game.

I agree on looking for nice people to play with but while doing so they should be able to duo heists as they want.

Pay Day 2 uses npcs if you don't have full group or someone leaves and it works just fine. After all this guys is trying to decide wether to buy the game or not based on if he can play the heist aspect with his gf as duo. That is pretty big give away for them wanting to play the game and it's online portion but just with eachother and not being forced to play with other people. We are all different types of people in games and games should respect that by giving a choice to do stuff the way you want. I don't see any downside of that when it's done so it is not abuseable.

Payday2 npcs can be horrible, like standing in your line of fire making you waste ammo (still don't know why they did that since it doesn't happen when you play with others). But it is functional. In an ideal world, I would agree and would love to have NPCs fill in holes. But the heists in this game require members to do a lot of specific things that can be done in many ways. It would probably be a scripting nightmare to put in npcs to be able to play all those roles online.
Hmmm... makes me wonder if someone would eventually be able to mod that in...
