keeping all these cars there would take loads and loads of extra traffic to the servers, because other players need to be able to see those as well.
this is most likely the reason only a few vehicles around you are remembered.
if you are talking in general, in the offline version then its mostly likely a limitation they build in to make sure performance doesnt suffer.
And I agree with you. Both things are annoying and I don't see a reason for this limitation in singleplayer since we don't have the hardware-restrictions the consoles have.
Yeah I've noticed the exact same thing, if you make a huge chain reaction and are just watching it go backwards through traffic then look back to where it started like 3/4 of the wrecks are gone... It is sort of beat but I guess it would be a massive resource slog to keep track of all the pieces and such

if you have any suggestions please let me know. i have searched the cfgs for a value that could be related (maxsomething or capsomething) but found nothing =(
also, the limit seems extremely low compared to the huge amount of available cpu power that idles unused in the background.
Have a i7 of high standing, a nice GTX 970, 16GB of RAM, a $60 bucks game and is all useless...
But: You must enter in each car, and this don't change that death bodies keep vanishing quickly.
It works for me, you just need RAGE Plugin Hook and have to strart GTA with RAGEPluginHook.exe.
