I find stealing fighter jets from military base unusally hard

well, I was trying that now for at least 6 or 7 times. Made a save in front of the base so that I can easily respawn. Either tanks or riflemen kill me cause it's taking so long to get in the jet or some sort of anti-air once I'm in the air. AI never misses and just respawns more units if I kill them. It's also impossible to sneak into the base so wtf am I supposed to do? I either was very unlucky or RS made the jet thing harder on pc?

I'm talking about single player and It was clearly way easier in gta: san andreas to steal military jets.

I found this topic after trying hard to steal the fighter jet in Fort Zancudo numerous times in GTAV PC version.
Here is what I found:
Resistance is a little bit random.
Missiles lock and strike you as soon as the plane leave the ground (found out while the plane bumped into something on the ground and I wasn't actually trying to takeoff).

I managed a few times now, here is what I did:
Come in with any car and go into the "moat" around the base, that way you are safe from tanks.
Park near any jet and steal it.
Try to takeoff ASAP and immediately retract landing gear (this seems to slow you down).
Fly in evasive maneuvers, making hard turns.
Try to leave the restricted area ASAP.

I never managed to have zero missile hit but one is enough to get the plane to the international airport.

I'm still trying to save it into my hangar...

jet really is not all that hard to steal, I literally just drove in, stuck to the left side of the base where there tend to be no tanks, past all the infantry and parked next to a jet and took off, flying low so as not to get on the bases radar, you know like the trevor mission where you have to fly into his small airport? It was the first try of my first playthrough, so I dont think it should be as difficult as you are describing. now stealing a tank on the other hand, that is what is really insanely difficult

It seems obvious when you say it but as I said, the moment the wheels leave the ground, I have the missile incoming alarm :-(

It easy. Also buying a bunker on the fort in GTA online gives you low level access. stealing anything I believe is two stars.

You can't avoid it as soon as you leave the ground.

Today I suceeded in taking the jet to Franklin hangar and save it.
I never bought any plane for this hangar and that did the trick.
I was able to dodge every missiles except the first one, the plane eventually died but not before making it to the hangar :-)
It keeps respawning if I blew it !

You can avoid the missile by looking back when taking off. That prevents the nasty spawn of a fighter jet right behind you. And you need to keep looking back while leaving the area.
This way i even managed to steal a buzzard attack chopper.
