Mouse over the Left Stick area and click to open the input settings.
On the bottom right you'll see Additional Settings.
Don't start turning down the sensitivity - like I did - or your vehicle turning radius is reduced.
Instead, open up Stick Response Curve to 'Relaxed' or 'Wide' or even 'Extra Wide', then change the Deadzone Shape to 'Circle' from 'Star'.
The attack curve and the deadzone shape is the big deal for me. As your driver skill increases you can narrow the attack curve. Most of my guys (2 out 3) are now very happy with 'Relaxed'. Michael is still in Driver's Ed and he needs 'Wide' for now.
Don't fiddle with the Deadzone Limits. Leave them default 'cause that Deadzone is where Steam can get that curve you'll find quite nice. Those teeny movements that used to toss you into oncoming traffic, or into a building/tree, now don't do so much until you really lay the stick over.
You'll have to fiddle with it, but don't go wild - like I did - or you'll be loading up the Official Configuration again to start from scratch.
Noteworthy is when you reboot, or reload Steam, you may have to reload that config, but it'll be in your 'Personal' tab. Not sure what's going on with that. I had a system upgrade and had to reload it, but once you get it set, you'll know immediately if it goes back to the original.
BTW - that is a Steam thing. R* couldn't be bothered, but I'm sure glad Steam did. I'm enjoying another playthrough for a game I swore I'd never let hurt me like that last playthrough did...lol.
I will give it another go, set the Stick Response Curve to "Extra Wide" ... like Michael's Mothers ass, according to Lamar lol.
And yeah R* don't care. For some reason they do have that Sensitivity setting for Camera and Running around ... but not for Driving. Weird.
Steam just tried to bring in even more Value ... by continuing to add more Controller Software tools, I play some games on Steam with a old PS2 controller plugged in a adapter that turns it USB ... the adapter has place for 2 controllers, i have that close to over 10 years now. Because some games use the L/R2 buttons extensively and I hate the Analogue ones in games where they not used as Analogue.
So yeah you can even tell Steam which Controller is used for which game, I have that PS2 controller(which steam sees as "PS3" controller)set for games like Phantasy Star Online2, and the PS4 controller for other games.
The Epic Launcher still has a long way to go, to even be considered by me as equal to Steam.
anyway, steam config interferes and makes the controller way to sensitive. By forcing it off only GTA has to control it and it works way better.
There is even a "Custom" setup for that "Stick Response Curve", so that lets you play around a ton. However I didn't see that lowering the sensitivity lowers the turning radius ... and I tested it.
For some reason even with the lowest setting of "Custom Stick Response Curve" which is a tad lower then that "Extra Wide" I still have to lower the sensitivity some (to like 900) or the car will still jump too much.
Ideally the car starts to turn slowly as soon as I touch the Analogue Stick, but it doesn't ... it doesn't turn at all at the start and despite zero starting "deadzone" I have to push the stick in quite a lot. But if I set the "Custom Stick Response Curve" too low it doesn't budge either.
Take that, plus the fact that running around on foot ... and especially shooting feels crap with a Controller. You just can't beat a M&K for that, I can turn fast or slow with it, and aiming is muscle memory already.
Even with that auto aim on max setting ... the game won't target anyone in a car. Especially annoying when you have to drive and shoot someone ... I would not mind if they took those parts out.
