How to fix quiet custom songs on Self Radio
So an annoying problem I've come across with GTA V is being excited to hear my own music in game just to tune in to self radio and have my songs extremely low in volume compared to other in-game stations. This solution should level out all songs to about the same volume for maximum listening quality for self radio.

Head over and download MP3gain from http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/download.php
(This is a track normalizer program that changes all songs you select to the same volume that you set, or very close to)

Once installed open the program and click either add files (individually select each song file you want the volume to change for) or add folder and just click your user music folder located at

C:\Users\*USERNAME*\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V\User Music

Once your songs are loaded into the program click the button up top called Track Analysis, this will go through each song and display how loud it is and such. Right above the white window there is a section that says "Target "Normal" volume. I find 98.0 db is the best option for me in GTA V because it sounds about as loud as the in-game tracks do.

Once your Target volume of 98.0db is set (or whatever you prefer) click the Track Gain button up top and this will go ahead and change each tracks volume to the closest number based on your target volume.

That's it! The program doesn't degrade song quality per say because it doesn't actually alter the song, only changes a volume parameter and can be reset back to normal.

My Volume is on KB and extremely easy to raise or lower and even mute, that's my preferred choice over loading more stuff to run in the background, and I understand what you're saying.

Screw the custom radio, if your keyboard comes with media keys (Pause/Play, Stop, Next, Previous, etc) then just open something like Foorbar2000 and use that. I am using this setup and works flawlessly, the only problem is that the music now entirely overcomes GTA, so if I need to listen to mics I have to pause the music. But that's a small gripe, I love my music...

Oh and Foobar2000 has it's own volume slider so if I wanted to bother with it, I could lower it to match the ingame music if I really wanted to.

I just turned down the SFX volume when I listen to self radio to balance it out ;(

although my songs are not too low in volume, but for sure lower than the official ones.

I prefer Self Radio, so this is for those who also prefer Self Radio. It automatically quiets down while phone calls show up, has radio station ads in between. I feel its more immersive

98db is a good starting point but I think I need a few more db to match the volume level of the other stations. I'm going to try 100db

For me an error message shows up saying "Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"
