Best Settings for GTX 980
Hi all,
Anyone out there with this GPU, if so what settings are you using to enjoy the game?
Apart from the marketing hype, GTX 980 can't max this baby without tradeoffs...
I am enabling 1080 @ 59hz + 2xAA (I hate FXAA) and am lowering the reflection/shadows to medium.
Grass to High...

Also does the game benefit from SSD?

Cheers

I am running it maxed out beside the Advanced settings where I only keep high detail while flying or whatever on, X4 MSAA, getting like 70-150 FPS.

It probably does benefit from an SSD, but not sure how much, the loadtimes are still long-ish. You can max it but you'll get ~30FPS at times. Personally I was running on Very High, nothing on ultra, softer shadows, no AA at all. All advanced graphics turned off. Getting 77FPS minimum.

I use top settings apart from high resolution shadows and the grass down to medium, this gives me 60fps at 1080p 99% of the time, sometimes drops to 55fps in areas with lots of tree's.

the reason why it drops is because of the Grass option. Ultra makes it render all the vegetation in the distance. While Very high is exactly like the Ps4 version.

I don't even notice a huge difference between high->very high->ultra. Not just grass, but for most of the graphics options.

There's a huge difference between medium->high but after that it seems subtle.

Also, I'm getting a new ssd for this game just because of the load times, but I'm curious to see if it will improve performance at all. I'm running a 4GB GTX 770 with most options on high and a few on very high. FXAA and 1080p. I experience some big frame drops. FPS is anywhere from 35-90. I'm hoping it may remedy the frame drops a bit

Turn off High resolution shadows if enabled and grass quality to Very High. And MSAA 2x, TXAA on. I get 60-80 fps in city everything maxed out but when i go to rural areas it drops to 40 fps with a GTX 780.

Oh and 70-150 fps everything maxed out and 4x msaa with a single card? Yeah sure.

Did I mention 150 is when inside a building/closed area that doesnt require rendering the whole city?

Yeah, I can barely do this with 780s in SLI so a single 980 has no chance.

Turning the shadows, grass and MSAA help lots with the FPS on any GPU setup by the looks of it, especially single GPUs.

Setting grass to normal should the game prevent from stuttering when lots of grass is around. Tested it out with a GTX 980: When set to HIGH is stutters sometimes (very strange, seems to depend on the Online Server I am playing on), when set to NORMAL it runs perfectly smooth but it looks better on high... Hope this will be fixed as a GTX 980 should handle the HIGH setting.
pretty much everything max, except water not ultra, x2 MSAA, TXAA, FXAA, very high shadow, with long shadow but not high resolution shadow, high flying detail, and i would max my distance when i'm flying online, depends on situation to get 60+ fps otherwise i stay around 50-70. grass on high too.

here my spec

i7 5980x oc@4.5ghz all my cpu reported back 2 of them max usage at 100% sometime other stay around 50-72% pretty good game for utilize all of my cores.
32gb ddr4 2666mhz
samsung 850 pro 1tb
gtx 980 strix

and anyway im pretty much fed up with this game, done all heist, pretty painfull with pub actually, bought a hydra, zentorno, all neccessary guns.

I'm able to run on ultra grass with no stutter. Possible your other settings are too high aswell? I tend to play on Very High with no AA, but I have tested grass on ultra and I didn't fall below 60fps nor did I stutter.

I play 2k resolution with gtx 980 and cant max every setting, msaa only *4 for example.

MSAA 4x should be ok, i am using the same setting and everything is fine except that grass setting...
