Game running at 60 fps but still feels laggy.
So yeah I'm having a hard time enjoying myself because the framerate either dips pretty low when I am driving a car or when it's at 60 I feel like I am experiencing some type of input lag.
Please help me. I don't know what settings I should leave on and turn off. I wish there was a default setting for high, ultra. extreme like most games use like Far Cry 4 and tomb raider.

I want to enjoy this game but I can't due to constant frame rate drops and input lag. I have
a GTX 980, 8 gb ram, and I7 4770k. I am running at 1080p. I have all the advanced graphics turned off and everything set to very high in the other graphic menu. I'm not sure if I should get another card or upgrade my cpu or ram. I was under the impression I could run this game flawlessly.

Why don't they just release the game properly. And not leave us waiting for 2 years and still release an abomination. 0/5

The game does seem to have Frame Pacing issues.. or just a bad Vsync/Triple Buffer Implementation.. even on my Monster Rig with 780Ti's SLI and 5960x i7 i get these stutter/hitching problems.. it's annoying as hell. SLI disabling doesn't help at all

i've just tried it, it's even worse now.. as soon as the game dips to 57-58-59 fps for a split second, vsync turns off and the game is starting to tear and stutter even more.. :/

My rig isn't nearly as powerful as yours and I don't have any stutter issues. I do use Vsync but haven't touched buffering settings. I do run into that vsync bug(that you may be familiar with) but I just turn Vsync off and on in game once per session to clear that up.

This should give you an indication of how your game should run, we have similar GPUs, yours is abt 10~15% more perfomance based on GTA V Benchmarks

It sort of sounds like you're not running on a SSD. When you're moving fast it's having to load lots of models/textures really fast. A slow HDD could cause this kind of lag.

You can try my settings. No input lag at all, FPS: 70 while not moving, drops to 45-60 while moving/in big action, but still no imput lag while aiming. Had these problems before too, spent more than 2h trying different settings. OC MSI GTX 970 4gb (to 1520 mhz) :

Everything maxed out, very high/ultra with some exceptions:

-mouse input set to: Direct
-Set shadows to High and Softer(quite good natural look) - Very high is just causing problems to me on all possible settings
-v-sync -off (huge fps/input lag difference)
-FXAA -off
-MSAA -2x (all other AA effects off) -fxaa is better on performance but looks terrible in distance, 2x MSAA is must have for me in this game
-reflection MSAA - off
-depth of field - off (no idea if that matter, just personal prefference)
-everything else is maxed, including ultra grass
Advanced settings: Everyting ON, Distance boost to 70%, shadow distance boost: none, High shadows dont allow that slider

Nvidia panel: all AA turned off and where possible controlled by application and v-sync off. You can try to play with other settings there, should not cause very big differences.

On these setting game is perfectly playable with no input lag even on most buggy grassy multiplayer maps outside of town. 1080p ofc
- keep in mind some specific locations in some specific time can be still laggy(drops to 35-40 fps). But for me these are bad on all settings. No FPS difference there if MSAA is off and shadows Normal etc. No single framerate difference for me when changing settings there.
I had horrible input lag while I was playing the game in borderless window mode, when I switched to fullscreen it went away.
