Can't Continue the Story

After the hotel assassination I'm now stuck as Franklin and I cannot change to other characters even when trying online. I can't start missions and there are no saves I can roll back to.

Try restarting? You should have an auto-save, that should then maybe let you change.

The Autosave is very weird. It says the hotel assassination, but it puts me on a seashark from a mission before that, nowhere near where the game autosaved.

i have the same problem...

So I made the hotel mission again and nothing changed.
But after a while lester called me and toled me that with the safehouse again and that solved the problem for me :D

How long did it take him to call?

The Hotel Assassination mission isn't a required mission as part of the story line, it can be done at any time. It sounds like there is some other mission that you are stuck with. If Franklin is your only choice, then you should have a mission marker over Michael's House?

I've seen this issue online, but it is not the one I'm having. There are no story missions on the map, only strangers and freaks which I can't start.

There are some known bugs with the quest "Deep Inside" not starting correctly. Have Franklin call a cab, set Michael's house as the cab stop, then skip the cab ride. The quest should kick off automatically when you exit the cab.

I know for a fact that mission is 20 missions after where I'm currently at. It didn't work anyway.
