But no, there won't be any damage, you might experience stuttering / lower FPS by going over, but if you don't then it's fine.
Thanks for the reply. What's a good way for my to monitor my temp; is it possible through the nvidia panels?
I don't believe it is, personally I use MSI Afterburner for GPU and Realtemp for CPU. MSI Afterburner also allows you to set up custom fan profiles which can help reduce temps if they're too high.

Just don't mess with anything you don't understand on MSI Afterburner. It's also an overclocking program but it's the best I've found for monitoring GPU temps.
Different cards throttle at different temperatures, but all cards should turn off your system before any permanent damage is done. Aslong as you stay below throttling temperature you're "okay", but some people have preferences as to where to keep their temperatures.
