For some reason, GTA V hates overclocks. Even though my OCs are stable in every other game, in GTA V they aren't so I had to restore factory clocks.
Superclocked to you may be stock, but definitely isn't.
Obviously the core is 'Superclocked/Overclocked' by Asus which potentially is showing as unstable within GTA5. I presume the artifacts you're talking about are the same as when testing a stable overclock within a benchmarking utility like Heaven?
As you'd know, if you've ever OC'd something yourself if those artifacts appear, it is not stable. That tells me the 'Superclock' provided by Asus isn't.
Could you run a test using FurMark to see if it starts artifacting as well? Monitor your temperature whilst running the test.
And don't start sweating if it runs upwards 80*C or even more, my 8800 GTX went upwars 105*C - those programs are supposed to stress test your GPU to it's highest capability.
FurMark just seems to be the best stress test when it comes to artifacts.
Check my profile, my computer is fine. Here is your answer:
Both GTX 560's have this issue.
5.0GHz AMD CPU ~60C under 100% load.
1000W CM GOLD PSU.
Asus Formula-Z MOBO.
2x GTX 560 Superclocked by ASUS ~65C under GTA V load /80 during Furmark.
This only happens with GTA V, also happend with GTA IV, the exact same, later they fixed it. BF4, and other high end games run fine.
Double check using MSI Afterburner that the VRAM is not overclocked and/or overheating when it's playing. The default memory speed for the 970/980 is 3500Mhz.
Edit: Never mind, your not using a 980 (misleading thread title). Check what I said above still for your 560.
Make sure you are on the newest driver.
Reinstall graphics drivers.
Reinstall social club.
Try turning on/off vsync.
Default nvidia control panel.
That looks like artifacting due to a high clock to me, lower it if you are overclocking.
Make sure the fans on the the card are spinning.
Seems to be an issue with the 980 where the fans won't work, unless you use a third party fan controller like MSI afterburner or EVGA precision X.
If that is happening to you, your cards may be getting too hot and artifacting due to that..
Maybe try using one of those program to do a manual fan control.
You will have to always launch it when you start windows and actually open the program, even if you have "start with windows" selected.
Otherwise I'd say RMA the card.
Side note:
I'm using two 980's and having 0 issues..
here ya go the furmark result so far

Did all that, it is clearly something with the game.
If you can't bother troubleshooting, I won't bother trying to help you. It's as easy as that.
Edit:
Didn't reload the page. Try using the Nvidia forums, maybe they'll have some more insight regarding the error you're getting. I doubt the Steam forums are the way to go. :)
So all four cards are failing all of a sudden, only in GTA V?
