Backup save files?
Just need a confirmation if this is the folder one should backup to keep the story progression.
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V\Profiles

Want to move them over to another computer, and I don't use Steam Cloud.

Yes, that's the save game folder.

Hello OP! Did it work for you to just copy over the 'Profiles' folder? I also need to move my story progression to another computer after redownloading the game from Steam.

It does work, I copied my save when I migrated to Windows 10 & again when I went back to 8.1.

Out of curiosity, what made you go back to 8.1 ? My Windows (8.1) installation is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ right now, so I want to reinstall it and I'm pondering wether or not I should try the new Windows 10 build. I know I had some issues with NVidia software when I tried the first Windows 10 preview, as well as a few problems with Steam games (which is why I moved back to 8.1), I'd love to know if it is still the case

Basically cause GTA V works perfectly for me on 8.1 but was a crash fest on 10. Should say not everyone has had my experience though, many people can play fine on 10.

Alright then, I'll stick to 8.1, since the game is running perfectly fine for me :)
I'd be curious to see what's the deal with the latest Windows 10 build which was released today though

Hey guys ive been searching on this and found this thread, hopefully some1 can clear things for me.

ive installed win 10 on my ssd yesterday and with that moved all my saved game files to the new destination C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V\Profiles from the old hdd... but for some reason gta v doesnt want to pick up the saves it keeps on starting from the beginning. i even deleted the whole rockstar games saves folder and when i go to gta i spawn right after the 1st mission (i played till here to see if i can trace a new destination) and when i go to my ssd saves destination it shows a new created rockstar games folder. i even went to copy my old saves again to the ssd and nothing.

im running my gta v from my normal 2tb (where my old win10 was aswell)

was hoping any1 can tell me what im doing wrong here

Thnx!
