Key bindings

Hello.

I am new to the GTA series.
I play on the Right side of the keyboard, so I use arrows, Delete/etc, numpad/etc.

Is there ANY way to get the movement, car, copter, etc etc to ALL be usable on the arrow keys?
As far as I have figured, I can have the vehicles on wasd, and on foot on arrows.
But, I cant have both vehicles and on foot on arrow keys, as it says the keys are already used, and will blank them out if I accept, then vehicles (or oon-foot) will be un-bound.

It's too awkward to keep switching around, pushing keyboard left, then right, then left, then right.....

I have limited space available playing on the right side as it is, and this would make it easier for me (WHY does this game have to use every keyboard key on the keyboard? Saints row uses like 14 keys, not 95. :(

Anyways, any help is appreciated.

As far as i know the arrow key are for your cellphone. Maybe you can change it on a config file.

u can change it ingame with the keyboard loayout, its right in the options above the graaphics settings. i swapped numpadkeys and arrows that way so i can fly with the arrowkeys + wasd and i use my cellphone and the "M-Key" menu over the numpad keys.

Oh ok, as simple as that, i though the arrow were already taken, when i read his message. But yeah if you can change it in the option, it is easier

Yeah, arrows was taken by phone.
But even after re-binding the phone to other keys, I cant bind arrows for vehicle AND on-foot movement at the same time.

i use wasd for moving, the arrowkeys are only needed in planes. if u want to walk with the arrowkeys, u dont have any idea, sorry

I can bind walk to arrows fine.
But, I want to bind them to vehicles also, and thats where the problem comes in.
I want up arrow to be forward in walk AND vehicles.
I want left to be left in walk and vehicles.
etc etc etc.

I dont want to HAVE to use arrows for walk, and wasd for vehicles.
Arrows for all.

if you can put arrow to walk, idk why you wouldnt be able to put it in cars too.

dunno, maybe submit a ticket to rockstar, they can answer u best IF it is possible and HOW u can achieve it.

I get a feeling that you used to play games like Doom, Quake, Duke3d, Rise of the Triad etc since that was the default controls for them. :P I know because I had the habit for quite a few years until I forced myself to use WSAD.

I get a feeling that you used to play games like Doom, Quake, Duke3d, Rise of the Triad etc since that was the default controls for them. :P I know because I had the habit for quite a few years until I forced myself to use WSAD.

Yep, I still do play those types of games (and those exact games, from gog.com, hehe).

Battlefield Hardline, Wolfenstein: The New Order, etc etc (FPS games).
But, I played The Crew, Saints Row 3 and 4, and GTA V looked like SR 3/4, so I gave it a shot. And, I am having this issue.

Maybe I will look at it tomorrow, and see if it fixed itself (the game looked horrible after the install, rebooted and did MS updates (lots of .net downloads were done), and it looks a lot better today.
Who knows, it may be a temp glitch like the graphics was.

I would highly suggest you try and get used to using WSAD. I know it's awkward at first but you'll thank yourself later on.

Not gunna happen.
My fingers are too long, and too broken (broke wrist, hand, and fingers).
WASD hurts my hands, and I hit 3 keys at once.
And, I am a crochety old man, who has used this same setup since 1995.

Me too I was using the arrows keys back in 1995 , but in 2004 approx. I change to wsad and it was a good choice.

You could try AutoHotKey which allows you to rebind any key to any other key; it's as simple as typing a file in notepad and running it, similar to the following:

w::up
up::w
s::down
down::s [etc...]

That literally swaps the 'w' and 'up' keys, as well as 's' and 'down', so you can change all movement keys in one go - I currently have my extra two mouse buttons set up like this as they aren't picked up in the game's config for some reason...
