GTA 5 killed my Graphics Card
Hey Guys,
i've used an "Palit GTX 780 Super Jetstream" GPU and the Game just killed that think :(

I often got the "gta 5 has stopped working" crash and I think it's beacause the GPU was Overclocked so I Downclocked it ~ -35MHz with the EVGA PrecisionX 16 programm. Now I was able to play the Game with no crashes.. Then the latest Patch arrived and even with the Downclock I wasn't able to play for a long time without the Crash.

Now today I played the Mission with Travor where you steal the little yellow Submarine.
Well while Im in the Ocean screen suddenly went black and my PC rebootet, but the Screen stayed black. So I opend the PC and saw that the GPU's Fans don't spin and the Card itself isn't even recognized in the UEFI anymore.

Tried a Hard Power resett but the GPU is Dead... RIP

I still got Warranty on the GPU so it's not that bad but still... WTF is going on that a Game that big is doing somethink like this?

never OC it by myself, it was the Factory Settings I was talking about.
So if you don't have a bad conscience about anything and you still got warranty, get it replaced. As said it might be just a coincidence - hardware usually fails under heavy load, so technically it's probably "the game's fault" by putting load on your GPU at that moment, but not "the game itself" breaking your hardware.

Gta killed the Video Card... Video Killed the Radio Star...Coincidence???? I think not.

Probably inadequate cooling, it is summer and if you have a dusty room that doesnt help. Poor case cooling too all the heat and blocked case ventilation all promotes overheating, btw you have a small case too ?

Nope I've got a Midi Tower with a good Airflow and Dustfilter, also I monitor the Temps of my System so I know it wasnt overheating at all

What do you mean? The GPU? I bought that Card 1 1/2 year ago and don't got any problems with it (Handles Battlefield 4 on Ultra with no problem for example)

Send a email explaining the issue to the manufacturer without mentioning any dubious methods used to exploit the card (not saying you did). Support team if you write a good email then they should send you some details and returns info gl you might get a replacement.

I've had something similar happen to me in the past, when my GPU died in a year and a half instead of lasting 3 or 4 years as usual. It was simply a bad unit, and all the other 6 GPU's I had in my life lasted their usual lifespan. It's not GTA's fault, any game would've caused the same.

pushed the card too hard and it broke...happens to the best of us, make sure you have good case air flow and all that.

I do recall one gfx card i had in the past that lasted about a year and half then died. At the time i realised it was a dodgy unit but couldnt be bothered to contact support as it was a basic entry model.

It probably overheated, or it was overvolted.

Playing fine on a GTX 660m, amazing chip.

Just fing wrong man. Have some decency.

Thanks for the advice. As i sayed before my Case got a good Airflow and all my Stuff is well cooled. CPU is even watercooled ;)

Also I allredy looking for the replacement since I still got warranty on the Card it shouldn't be a problem. Maybe the Card was just a bad Unit but I think it's a little bit odd that the "gta 5 has stopped working" and the "err_gfx_d3d_init" error seems to be releated to OC GPU's and that I was fine before the last Patch.
