Flight controls frustrating
Does anyone else find the flight mechanics absolutely frustrating? It may just be me.
I find the flying mechanics in this game in either a jet or helicopter (Heli is the worst) is terrible. I am use to games such as the ARMA series, where even in that game it may take a while to learn how to fly but in GTA 5 it just feels terrible. With or without auto level it still feels horrid. I can't believe they found a way to make flying on a pc game feel so bad.

Best fix in the world for mb/kb flying is to remap keys so you fly with WASD and accelerate/decelerate with shift/ctrl.

You know, like it was in GTA SA :)

I have Pinnacle Profiler and I can't even re map my flying controls to use the right thumbstick to control speed and YAW
I don't know why they haven't just done a BF4 fly config for the game, because otehrwise flying is just a wasted experience irrespective of Joypad or KB/M

On that note, I am going to download a profile for BF4 and see if it works with GTA V

:D

Oh I fly a DJI Phantom so understanding how 2 thumb sticks to fly really does work

I found it very hard to deal with it at first but I lost a couple hours at the flight school and got the hang of it - ( got stuck at the low flight class ) - I ordered a controller after a few days going about it, I don't find it as horrible - I also think that the skill bar being extremely low contributed a bit for my frustration - but, as I said before, I don't mind giving a bit of use to numpad

its the YAW and throttle functions, u need 4 fingers, its stupid
this is PC, there is no valid reason ever that you cant remap a joypad on here

I'm guessing you've 5 in each hand !? I use WASD and 8456 -? Except for INSERT. Being a bit outta the way, I find it pretty intuitive now - go to the flight school and practice for a while and come back the next day - give your brain time to process it - just like RL driving - you won't get it the first day, even if you beat it to death

No you have 4 fingers in each hand right? So when holding a JoyPad, you need to use forefinger and middle finger of both hands while using Thumb stick to control, You use trottle and brake, depending how you fly and what you fly, then using YAW to correct the stupid over correcting of not being able to fly correctly in the 1st place

I can fly, that's not the issue, using 2 fingers per hand ready on both triggers, so 4 triggers in total is stupid

Thought you meant the keyboard

That's because they make the helicopter wobble around randomly so your skills won't matter. You have to visit the flight school to make it wobble less.

That's not how GTA SA was mapped you noob... Thats how Just Cause 2 was mapped. And yes its the perfect controls for flying.

Nah JP, read up, this is just an absolute travesty that they could do this so us
There is like 8 different options, ie FPS, SthPAw, SthPaw+ FPS, all that crap, not one has the ability to use the stick for Throttle + YAW
The worse thing is, even in KB you can't remap the JP's sticks, it picks up buttons, but not the analogs..

I hated it at first but now im flying like a pro. I did do all the flight school missions with T,M and F. That helped alot. I still have a little problem with the choppers but the jets are much easyer to fly with more control. I find with the choppers you need to just tap the button not press. so if your turning just keep tapping it. It dose get easyer. I have spent a good amount of time in the air though.

I don't care much about the control mapping for this game now that I got a good feel for flying it, the thing I hate the most! is the "Wobble" which tilts my plane 10* degrees or so left and right rolls. Hell ARma 3 did not have that problem before, and nor did previous gta games. oh well guess I'll have to just suffer.

Use a controller makes flying easy.
