My GTX 770 hits 85ºC ^^ I wouldn't worry about it unless you start having performance issues/crashes/artifacts.

lol so worry about it after its too late?

the MSI Gaming should not be running that hot. as usual around here details are lacking which in this case is the exact case being used and ambient temps.

Who cares, that's what warranty is for. GTX 770 max temperature is 98ºC, GTX 970 is 91ºC. GPUs can handle very high temps with no issues.

that does not mean his specific model card is not running too hot. my 980 was a little over 80 C but thats is normal for the reference card. his card should not be getting that hot unless he has poor case airflow or some other issues.

wow what an ignorant reply. most normal people would not want to deal with an RMA that could take weeks.

how about at least listing your case like I asked?

and running with case opened can sometimes make things run hotter not cooler.

you have a 10 year old case? that dinky thing with one little fan is not suitable for a 970.

I'm sorry, i forgot how impatient kids are these days. If you buy your components from good shops they will check if it's faulty and give you a new one right away, only scrubs will tell you to send it back to the manufacturer.

i have an MSI 970 golden edition and i think it's significantly better because it has a sweet backplate a HUGE heatsink never gone above 52c

While you *can* play at 80*c and probably be fine for a while I definitely wouldn't suggest it. 80*c is way above what it should be, I'd say 60 is probably even slightly high. My max temp today with my 980 has been 50*c and that's with one of my case fans not being plugged in.
