Steam failed to initialize. Please exit and try again.

Does anyone know how to fix this? The fix on rockstar gives a fix for when it says Social Club failed to initalize not steam as in what I am getting. I did actually try to fix the error with what it says but it didn't work - none of it. I removed gta 5 and dowloaded it again but still get the same message: Steam failed to initialize. Please exit and try again. I can open all of my other games in Steam, just not GTA 5. :(

It doesn't do it anymore. I just restarted and it went away. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with me pirating the game first. My issue now, is that it crashes when trying to launch it. Going to disable the steam overlay after I finish verifying my game cache.

The problem for me was nvidia shadow stream. I have disabled it from nvidia geforce experience and it did the trick for me.

I had to launch the game with another steam user (steam family) now it works fine!
