GTA V Breaks Shockwave Flash on Browsers
Ever since I installed GTA V a couple of days ago on my PC, I've encountered the problem of the Shockwave Flash plugin constantly crashing on Google Chrome after exiting the game and the Steam client. Worse still is that not only do videos and some websites not load at all on Chrome, the problem also carries over to Firefox in that YouTube videos refuse to play. Steam also refuses to start back up, along with a few other programs. A restart of the computer fixes it, but if I start up GTA V, play and then exit again, the problem comes back.

So far, I have not been able to find anyone else with a similar problem. The game does run fine though with no crashes or bugs whatsoever interestingly. I've also ran a virus scan on my computer using Norton 360 and MalwareBytes, with the latter finding something that didn't seem related to the problem at all. Still good to find and get taken care of though.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the specs to my PC, a gaming laptop to be exact if anyone wanted to know...

MSi GE60 2PE Apache Pro:
Intel Core i7-4700HQ @ 2.4 GHz with boost to 3.4 GHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M with 2GB DDR5 VRAM
8 GB RAM at 1600 MHz
1 TB HDD
Windows 8.1 64-bit

In no way does gta 5 ever interact with flash or chrome. Definately not the problem if you ask me. It's like saying my car wont start because I forgot to do the laundry.

Do they still work on that? For real? Shockwave is so 1999.

Maybe it's just a shoddy update that went wrong? How the hell can GTA cause this?

Do you think it could be something memory related? I know Chrome isn't the best (actually, browsers in general now) when it comes to memory, I myself have 8GBs of memory and I sometimes get some issues with Chrome while running a nice amount of tabs when playing GTA V, which is why you should probably rely on the steam ingame browser when playing GTA V.

On the other hand, have you tried relying on the HTML5 version of Youtube? (if you aren't that is)

@slovak and Caelistas: I also don't think that GTA V is the main source of the problem, but this issue has only began after installing and playing the game. Everything was fine before so I'm not so sure myself. A friend of mine suggested that maybe because of the Optimus technology that switches the GPU between the integrated Intel unit and the Nvidia, something gets stuck on the Nvidia card and messes up with Shockwave Flash. I fail to see how that is logical though.

@shagia: I don't know if it is memory related. When you are referring to the "steam ingame browser", do you mean the actual desktop application client or the online site? Also, doesn't Chrome try to use HTML5 whenever it's possible?

This man isnt lying. I have the same problem, GTAV manages to disable flash, break after social club launch, and refuse other steam games to launch. I have met the required btw, consdiering my updated drivers suggest I play on very high. I submited a report to support, and they should get back too me shortly. I will let you know on anything.

I have a GE70, I have heard general issues are exisiting with Laptops. I can also launch it once, play forever on amaszing specs, then exit, relaunch, have it crash, and I cant also load steam, play another steam game, or run YouTube. Again, posted a report, will let you know if anything responding works, you are not alone.

Good to know that there are other people experiencing the same issue. I'll also send in a report, but I appreciate your response and wait eagerly for an update :)
