Seriously what the heck are the swimming controls on PC?

Every time I get in water no matter what I press I either sink fowards slowly or just sit there doing nothing until I drown, and I can't find anything in keybinds either.

How to swim?

So for reals the swim button is the same as sprint? And S and W (pressed both, but without Shift so evidently I just angled up and down).

For a game that "isn't a port" it has some of the wierdest PC controls I've ever used :(

And yes these are really weird controls. Especially when you swim up to the surface (with Shift + S) , as soon as you reach the surface you have to switch to W to continue to swim forwards.

I drowned a couple of times.
I was screaming at the dude: GO UP! You will drown!!! But no.... Well, what do I know, drown you mf.

You press Spacebar.

Controls are weird, but funnily enough, I think they're the same as they were back in San Andreas :)

thanks for the help, had to drown about three times before I admitted to myself I need to google controls for swimming in a PC game :/

Shift is swim because in GTA4 all you did was hold shift anyways so Niko would swim faster/with more urgency than of a floater.

It's confusing at first but made sense when I thought about it.

You cannot, because unless they added a swimming section lately there is no option under keybinds to change swimming controls... or even view them.

Its using like the inverse controls like a flight sim for some reason. I have always played this way on a controller since I always used to play flight sims in the Amiga days. I have to say though that it is rather strange having the game do this on keyboard :)

LOL glad to see im not the only one drowning. Most games the crouch key is dive and space is resurface, now space is dive and theres no surface key, sat there watching screen go red frantically looking for the key bindings. Oh well. thanks

Lol, I had that underwater swimming problem too until I copped that L-shift makes you go forward and W & S control your vertical direction. The controls when you are on the surface are slightly different in that W makes you go forward this time (but you still have to press L-shift!)
